Dh is taking a week off in August. We're not completely sure what we're doing but I'm sure we'll go somewhere. His trip for work to Germany is still up in the air. If it happens, Ethan, Mason and I will be tagging along.

We have a timeshare on a lake in British Columbia. It is always the 3rd week in July. We love it there lots on sun, lake "sand" and BBQs.

Other than that, a few weekends away in the mountains camping and hiking.

I can hardly wait till SUMMER!!!!!

Not really this summer - we are taking our Disney trip in October (same time as Amanda, woohoo! ) But DH goes camping up in Maine for 4 or 5 days so the kids and I will stay with my mom. And we are hoping to get one night away at a B&B for my birthday, but I still have to ask my mom if she minds having the kids for the night.

We just spent a boatload of money to install air conditioning so we likely won't be doing anything major this summer for trips.

If I can find cheap flights I may try to convince DH to do a weekend trip to NYC but we'll see.

How do you like B&B's? DH & I stayed in one a while ago (before kids) for 2-3 nights and it was.. awkward. Reason being is we were in our early 20's and the other 3 couples who stayed at the same time as us were in their late 60's, early 70's.. basically, retired, rich, and travelling. lol. And we had to allll eat breakfast at the same table. Awkward. They just kept comparing airports across the world that they have travelled through every breakfast. Also, the "owners" of he B&B were pretty conservative it seemed (which we are too, btw, but it's not like they asked lol) and I think they didn't like DH & I sharing a bedroom hahaha (we were married.. but even if we weren't, not like they will ask us).

Anyway... NEVER AGAIN. Although I since learned there are B&B's where they have separate breakfast tables

Vacation... I hope to take the kids to Niagara Falls for 3-4 days and go to Marine Land.

Even though you asked Emily I'm going to interject too!

I love the ideas of B&B's depending on the mood of the trip. Last summer DH, Cooper and I stayed at a B&B as did my parents (they had a separate room from us). It was nice to not have to eat at a restaurant for every meal (we had access to a kitchen) and didn't mind sharing breakfast with others.

I have been to other B&B's where we were the youngest and didn't have much in common with the others but it didn't bother us too much as our exposure to them was limited (just at breakfast).

Hope that helps!

LOL. Thanks, Meagan!

True... our exposure to them was breakfast as well, but after they finished eating they just kept talking, talking, and talking for another 45 minutes and we felt it would be rude to get up and leave...

The breakfasts themselves were pretty great though, homemade by the owners and very fancy!

No plans yet.

Julia, we stayed in a B&B in Alaska, but we ate breakfast in our room and didn't see any other guests since it was just one night. It was nice, but I can see how it could be awkward.

Wow - no, I guess we're going to more of a small Inn. I don't think I would like that. I think they make breakfast, but there is a dining room with several small 2-4 person tables...and you don't all have to eat together. Yikes - no, no no. That is not for me...I'm not that social! LOL

hahahaha.

Yes, the type of place you're heading to is something I would book in the future!

The one we stayed at looked something like this:

We would wake up and breakfast would be served and everyone ate together.

I just want to say that I've never been to a B&B and now, I don't think I ever want to. LOL DH & I are not that social either!

Anyhoo, like Emily said, we're doing Disney in October (woo hoo!) but as for summer, Leah & I will probably take a trip up to PA to visit family at some point. June or July, most likely.

We're doing Disney too but we'll be there the first week of June.

We are thinking about installing central air here too. We have 1 story house so its a super easy install, but it's still going to be around $8K But the kids rooms get SO hot in the summer and I won't open their windows b/c they are on the first floor (obviously in a 1 floor house) and in the front.

PS Let me and Christine know if you are in NYC! We are close!! Right Christine?!

We'll probably do a bunch of camping again, but no plans for any major trips.

We're going to the Bahamas for a week in June. Woohoo!

Other than that, just some small ones. My grandma lives near the beach, and I want to visit her. My parents have a little lake cottage and I want to go there too.

I wish ours was $8k... add a bunch more as we had to have duct work run (we have a boiler/baseboard heat) and had to have some electrical work done too. Good thing I plan on living in this house forever. We also have a one story so theoretically it is an "easy" job compared to multi stories.

I am the same way, I hated keeping windows open and wouldn't in Coop's room.

Will let you know if we head to NY, fingers crossed

Oh gosh, I guess ours might be more too. That was DH's estimate - he was going to do a bunch of the work himself too I guess. Though that never seems to happen as I am still waiting for the expanded deck and finished basement he is supposed to so. Sometimes I wish I had a non-handy husband b/c then he would just call someone to come do it! LOL
