I know we always ask around the holidays. But what are some of your other traditions?

Is there a special outting you take every year?
Special meals only you cook on certain days?
Events that you go to with friends of family?

Since Dh is a police officer, we get free train rides on the train that goes to NYC. We take advantage of that with the kids and take them into the city around Christmas time to see the sites, and we also go in the summer to, visit parks and zoos and museums.

As far as other family traditions, on birthdays we let the birthday kid pick out the meals for the day and for Lily and Julia's birthday in the summer, we let them pick out a day trip or something like that to do with the family.

I can't say that we have that many. For birthdays, the kid gets to pick where they want to go for dinner that day - though of course, only Eric gets that privilege yet, since Danny won't answer the question. We also have some events we go to annually, but that's not so much a tradition as just stuff we like to do.

On your birthday, you get to pick the meals and cake/treat. For Leah's birthday, it's become tradition that both my mom & stepdad and DH's parents come visit for a weekend to celebrate.

On Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve, we almost always make fondue for dinner. Something fun and different!

And we may potentially make Disney an annual thing if we enjoy our trip in October... and I imagine we will.

On the kid's birthdays they get to pick which restaurant they want to eat at for their birthday dinner.

Every night before dinner we go around the table and say what we are thankful for .
