Any other of our kiddos gluten free? Katie has been dairy free for nearly 2 years now, but after a year of chronic bladder infections and all testing non-conclusive.. our pediatrician suggested we cut out the gluten to see if that helps. Celiac's disease was also mentioned but with all of the invasive testing Katie has gone through I am choosing to just cut out gluten for now and see if it helps or changes anything. Testing is certainly something we would consider later on if we need to.

Anyways, I was just curious if any of our other kids are gluten free and what brands or suggestions you may have!

Good luck! We are not gluten free, but Brad and I were dairy free. Addy had to eliminate several foods for a year, but she has been able o add them back thankfully. Here is one website for gluten free info that I had in my favorites. http://www.allergyfreealaska.com/

Thanks everyone! So far it is going smoothly, we are meeting with her doctor again in 2 weeks so we will see if there is any change then.

Has it been a hard transition Christine? I had chronic bladder infections as a kid and had to have minor surgery to correct it... I certainly hope going GF helps Katie!

It has been hard for Katie and I. Cooking for a family of 6 is a challenge anyways but then to add dairy and gluten restrictions makes it even more difficult. Luckily she has been a fan of a couple of staples like gluten free bread, and brown rice based pasta.

Last time I ordered Domino's Pizza I saw that they had a gluten free crust option. They also sell a number of Gluten free items at the store now. My mom had to drop gluten about a year back, so I have been noticing what is out there. She really doesn't buy many special foods and just gets her carbs from rice and potatoes. She likes the rice cakes and they come in lots of different flavors.

I hope this change helps Katie. I can imagine how difficult it is having to prepare different food for her.
