I have recently started cloth diapering my son. I figured I'd try my hand at making diaper covers because I just can't bring myself to buy one online (I am overwhelmed by the choices, really).

My first attempt (on August 15th) didn't go so well. The fabric is cute, but not right and well, I did it without a real pattern.

Last night was my second attempt and it went a little better! I used a pattern from Mama Bird. My sewing sucked because I had very little patience (I'm sick), but it came out okay. I used an old forgotten blanket for the actual cover, 2 layers of a flannel blanket between the 2 layers of the first blanket, 8 layers of the flannel blanket for the soaker, and then I just folded the birdseye flat diaper in thirds and put it in there. I put the soaker under his 'boy parts' because he has been chaffed lately. It's a tad bit too small, but it's pretty cool and actually works

I can't make any more right now because I need more hook and loop tape (read: Velcro), perferably the kind without an adhesive backing. I might as well find some Polyurethane Laminate (PUL) so I can really do it right!
