I'm so excited!
We had a little extra money from our tax return, so DH gave me the go-ahead to buy a kiln and the basic tools I need to start working with PMC (precious metal clay). I started to get a manual one, but he told me to splurge and buy a digital one instead, so now I'll be able to program it to the correct firing schedules. I'll be able to fire pmc, glass, enameling, and pottery in it. It should arrive in about two weeks, and then you won't hear from me for a while lol.

I've been wanting one of these for so long - I'm on cloud nine, ladies!

Very nice!!! I'd LOVE to have a kiln (you know those things I said I didn't have room (or money) for??). My aunt had one when I was a child that she used for ceramics and I loved it! And then last year I attended a PMC class with a friend of mine and discovered that it is a ton of fun...but that I'd need a kiln for it. Boo!

The lady who taught the class to us recommended this website for finding supplies. Free Shipping on Metal Clay Supplies and Metal Clay Tools Over $150 - Create Beautiful Silver, Sterling, Bronze, Gold and Copper Metal Clay Jewelry

I can't wait to see some of your work once you get started with it!!

That's awesome! Everyone in the area says that this lady we took the class with really knows her stuff, so I was totally confident in recommending that website. That's just too funny that you'd ordered from there.

They have the lowest pmc prices that I've found, and they also have a lot of neat items I haven't found anywhere else. They ship pretty quickly too, which is great - I watch my mailbox religiously for new supplies and I hate waiting long for shipments lol.

Do you have a torch? There are some forms of pmc that you can fire with a torch instead of a kiln. You have to control the temperature carefully, but I've done it with a few pieces and it's not too difficult.

Nickie that is awesome!!! I can't wait to see how your new stuff turns out. You'll have to share a picture of your kiln once you get it all set up.

It actually arrived two days ago, when it wasn't expected for another two to three weeks! But since it's early, I don't have a place to put it yet. I'll let you ladies know when it's up and running.

I think so too! But DH works for a thermal stressing company and he's in charge of running these huge electric furnaces that are basically kilns on a large scale, with the same type of digital controllers. So he knew that the manual kiln would be hard for me to work with. I'm really glad I'll have him around to help me figure this thing out, because it looks very confusing!
