Cooper had his follow-up from his surgery yesterday. At first it did NOT go well... he's used to the persons/physicians that he always deals w/ not the "newbies"...a newbie came in, I said "sure"...thinking "how bad can this be?" OH.... it was bad. Cooper SCREAMED, had a fit, started hitting, it was awful. The REGULAR doc finally came in & he still wanted nothing to do w/ her, she even said "Cooper, I've never seen you like this, it's me Dr.____". Still...nothing. She asked me if I wanted to do a hearing test and I said "I doubt he'll do it, but let's see"... we walked out of the room & he saw the audiologist that he's been seeing for a long time now, he smiled & said "let's go!" and that was that. He did the ABR hearing test perfectly, no crying or screaming... it was great. His hearing, as of now, is fine... which is great news We have to go back in 6 mos., and we continue to do this and as long as he passes his hearing tests for 3 consecutive years w/ out failing "any"....he will no longer be legally deaf. Which is great. I mean, he still has all the developmental delay, OT & PT issues, fine/gross motor issues, but hearing would be huge b/c then his speech would be fine & that's one less thing I have to worry about.
So.... the appointment wasn't a complete wash out afterall.
