Ava is getting IV sedation Tues, and GA Wed and Fri, so that's 3 IVs in 3 days (to to mention any bloodwork). Part of these are outpatient (we'll be staying close to hosp). Will they have to restick her everyday or can they leave the IV in all week? I know it needs flushed, but I don't know how often.

they will probably have to stick her each time. Ask for Emla cream before they stick her. I may add a few minutes (takes 20 minutes) to your time there but it completely numbs the site and she won't feel the needle at all (we use it everytime they access Joey's port and he smiles during it)

each outpatient will be resticks, but as soon as she is admitted they will place one and flush every 5 or 6 hours or so. for sure ask for the "magic cream" as they call it. and try to keep her as hydrated as possible to make each stick go easier

I'm so sorry you have to go through that but I am so glad I learned about the cream, never heard of it!

THink I am too old to ask for it next time too?

I hope Ava tolerates all her procedures, it's a lot in one week, poor little girl.
