I got to meet Ava's new EI therapist today and I was so thrilled when she showed up. I know her! She saw Christian when he was in EI. She is so sweet, love her! Ava even loved her, which is great!

She is also wanting AFOs for Ava. So, It's a done deal now. But the good news is she thinks Ava might be standing and maybe cruising by the time another IFSP needs done in 6 months.

AFOs are leg braces that we have to have made to fit Ava's feet/legs to help stabalize her. She's can't support her weight yet and is very wobbly even with help..

Ah - I just read this. Glad to hear the news

Kyle started in inserts, then sure steps, then SMOs - now AFOs. The SMOs gave him more ankle flexibility, but the AFOs shored up the weak points for his knee (they go below the knee - but communication between the knee and ankle was off). He was a little awkward in them the first few days - but he's great with them now. Fortunately you have a girl - so finding socks to wear with them will be easier. Boys crew socks are too short, so I have to buy baseball & soccer socks (babylegs also work with ankle socks )

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I just know she will be on her feet and cruising by her next IFSP, and I cannot WAIT! That is so great that you know her too, that really makes it so much easier.

I was told not to work with Ava standing at all anymore until after she gets her braces. It could cause further muscle damage to her legs and hips.

But she is allowed to work on crawling. Her IFSP goals are kinda sad. To have Ava bare weight on arms and legs. That's kinda depressing. She is so behind.

I'm so glad you know the therapist, and I'm sorry she is behind enough to have her goals be that way, but you never know, she might blow those goals out of the water.

How exciting!!! I hope that it makes everything go much more smoothly for you!

As for the goals, I hope that Ava surpasses everyone's expectations. When Milo started, I thought that some of the goals seemed sort of low...he knocked out a few within a couple of weeks...and for others, we're here at 8 months of therapy without him having met several of his goals. Oh, well. The progress still astounds me-any progress! I have no doubt that Ava will astonish you!

I know that she's getting fitted next week, but when will you get the AFOs and begin therapy?

Hope, Luke & Ava can work on their goals together.

That's great news!
