Hi ladies. I wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that the National Marrow Registry has announced that now through the end of 2009, registration to be a bone marrow donor is free (it is normally $55). Simply go online to National Marrow Donor Program - Be The Match Marrow Registry and take a questionaire. if you qualify, they will send you a cheek swab kit. Follow the directions and mail it back. The procedure for donating marrow should you ever be called for is not a horrible experience, and most of the time now it is done the same way you give blood, but even when done through the hip bone (rare now) most are able to return to normal activities in a few days. You may be a little sore, but you could save a life.
