Have there been any doctors, therapists, or specialists that have spent time with your child that have really impressed you or made a positive impact? Tell us about them! I think sometimes it's easy to find the bad ones, and stories of the good ones are always so great to hear.
I'll be honest... I've only had one, BUT that one has been a rock for me. Our pediatrician is amazing, and I am so thankful for him! He seems to know exactly how to treat us every time we come in to not be pitying but not pretend Danny is typical either. He's called me at home a few times, once the day we got Danny's diagnosis as deaf to see how we were doing and to give us contact info for who he believed was "the best of the best" ENTs in the area to help us, and again after Danny's CI surgery just to touch base and see how we were doing. He's been amazing answering any of my questions he can and doing everything he can to find answers when he doesn't know them, and really gone out of his way for us. I'll never forget the first appointment we had with him after Danny got out of the hospital; he walked in with a huge binder, sat down with it on his lap, and told us that he'd taken Danny's entire medical record home the night before to read through it, but he wanted to have it on hand that day as well "just in case we need it."
He's really been a reminder for me, through all the poor bedside manner and pessimistic or patrionizing specialists, that not all doctors suck!
Ava's main PT at childrens has been wonderful. She has helped my girl so much. She's now pregnant with twins (IVF) and has to go on bedrest soon. We're really going to miss her. So happy she's pregnant, though!
Ava's pulmonologist has went above and beyond for us. Late night calls to answer questions, even fitting her in non-existant appointment slots to check her out. He will sit and talk with us for as long as needed, sometimes over an hour.
