I know, for me, there are moments and days that just completely overwhelm me... What do you do when you need to regroup and pull yourself together? Is there anything that's just for you, even if it's only for a minute?

My DH pretty much respects now that when I tell him I need some time, he honors it. He'll take Jonah for a few minutes, or even hours if I really need some time, and I can lay down in our bedroom. Sometimes I read or watch tv or use the computer, but most of the time I just lay and enjoy having a peaceful moment.

When I can't do that, sometimes I'll have Jonah look at his books and I'll close my eyes for just a minute and take some deep breaths. I'm lucky in that Jonah really likes looking at books, so that can keep him occupied for long enough to let me catch my breath anyway. Then he usually brings a book to me, and we have a good cuddle while I read it to him. It's good quiet time for both of us, and sometimes I think we both need the cuddles!

That's great LOL Sometimes I'll wait to go to the store until DH gets home from work, so I can go by myself. Then I'll sneak to Sonic and get a drink (Sonic is in the parking lot of our store) DH knows I do it though LOL I can't be so sneaky. He also knows that a sonic slush can cheer me up when I am in the foulest of moods

LOL, I love forgetting something that the store I enjoy Sonic too, though usually my choice is Dairy Queen. A mini Blizzard always makes me smile.

Reading is my big one. I always try and carve out at least 10-15 minutes a day, when the kids are napping, or after they're in bed, or if I can get them both interested in flipping through some books or playing together... Usually if they're awake, one of them ends up on my lap in the first 5 minutes, but that's OK because just the quick down time is a huge help.

Once in a while I get DH to watch the boys - or even just Danny - and I'll run to the store by myself or with Eric. He's very low maintenance, and we enjoy our time shopping just the 2 of us. It lets me "get away" from the special needs aspect of life and just be a "normal" mom for a while, plus gets my big boy some one-on-one time.
