I wanted to "officially" welcome you to the board! I think you definitely fit in here; special needs is pretty much a bucket of all the other stuff that we deal with that isn't typical. Each of our kids has a fairly different set of needs, but so much of what we deal with is universal, you know?

So glad you've jumped in and joined us, I can't wait to get to know you and your daughter better!

Thanks! It'll be nice to be able to connect with some other moms working through some of this. It was a good day to join, we just got an updated therapy schedule and it had me down a bit. I'll look forward to getting to know the mommas and kids on this board.

As I posted in another thread Anna and I are currently working with an OT and speech path for sensory integration difficulties and chronic aspiration/disorganized swallow.

I always get down when our therapy schedule gets updated too ... any time we add or maintain therapy, it's such a bummer, and if we reduce it's a bummer because we're seeing people who have been with us for so long, less. It's like you can't win! We may be dropping out of PT this go around, and I'm excited to be "done" but we've been seeing her since Danny was 3 months old, so I'm dreading saying goodbye.

You mentioned a weighted vest, that is a new one to me... How does it help?

The vest is meant to help her stay calmer in noisy situations. Being held tightly or snuggled in a blanket is really soothing to her still, sort of like the toddler version of swaddling

welcome!!! I know I said that in the other thread!

My friends dd had the weighted blankets as a toddler, they helped a ton. She was a sensory abby, still is at 4 but nly in speech now.

Thank you so much! That is great to hear that she is only in speech. Anna's speech is actually on pretty good for content, she mainly works with speech because of her swallowing/aspiration. They have helped us so much!
