This is a big week for us.

Yesterday was her eye appt, which wasn't great.

Wednesday is her appt with a rehabilitation Dr for her wheelchair clinic, Feeding team appt w/ GI and nutritionist, and PT.

Friday is OT.

Monday was our follow up with ENT from an ear infection last month. Poor kid had to have wax suctioned out of his left ear & the ear infection is still lingering. Not badly though... repeating the drops for a few more days.
Wednesday I have a Dr. appt. As much as I hate to admit this, I am feeling very overwhelmed lately. I have been having a very hard time verbalizing this. I continue to keep a smile on my face but inside I am crumbling. I think it's time for an anti-depressant or something. Between work, dr appts, therapy appts, raising 2 wonderful children & caring for a home.... I am stressed a little. Plus we are now self pay for therapy & medical bills are adding up. I spend countless hours on the phone lately trying to find other sources to help with payment to no avail. I don't want people to think I am whining because I know that we are also very blessed. But things are adding up & I feel like i can't breathe.

Sorry to be Debbie downer but I know you all know what I mean & how i am feeling. Thanks ladies.

Good luck today, Hope!

And Stacy, I don't think you're a debbie downer... I think you're being honest, and we all can relate. I am constantly amazed at how little funding and financial support you are getting from the state for Luke, that's just atrocious that this is all landing on your plate and your budget. We'd be living on the street if we had to pay for even half of Danny's stuff! Plus I know it is absolutely exhausting trying to work and keep up with it all. I know it's super hard for SAHMs too, but there are a lot of days I get home from work and the very last thing I want to do is one more therapy appointment and working on therapy goals. I would definitely talk to someone about maybe therapy or an anti-depressant; I was on one for a while, and was able to wean off...though honestly some days I wonder if that was the right decision.

I'm not feeling so well this week so my brain is sort of only half on. DS does have his first appointment with the new pediatrician tomorrow though and I'm going to ask him to see if his tongue is tied. Then Friday he has his tests with the speech pathologist. I'm so glad I'll be able to go in and tell her that his tongue was checked out and is or is not tied.

Hi Stacy! We live in Ohio too, and the medical bills were beginning to get overwhelming to us as well. But then our nurse coordinator for Early Interventions told us about a program called BCMH. The program helps us pay for treatments that our insurance won't cover. First we were on diagnostic BCMH, and we got financial assistance with things such as doctor's co-pays etc ($20 a visit can add up fast when you're looking at four specialists a week, every week of the month!) and now we are switching to treatment BCMH to help with the weekly therapies and weekly specialist visits. It's been a godsend to us, I don't know how we would have been able to pay the bills this month without it. Here is the website

Ava also has BCMH and it's a lifesaver! They are paying for all her extra nutritional suppliments, which would cost us a small fortune.

Thank you, Kel. This is why I love you ladies so much. It's nice to have support

As far as BCMH, I talked to the coordinator & Luke's therapy reason would have to fall under his congenital heart defect as the reason it's needed. It's not the reason, he does not have activity intolerance. I call may again & talk to her just to be sure. Phone calls seem to run together anymore. But, we are getting good rates through Easter Seals & our local hospital for therapy. We are finally getting travel expenses reimbursed through our county for therapy. And, our school for developmentally delayed children has a small grant that will reimburse us for things to take care of Luke. We are also in the process of seeing if EI will cover some therapy expenses with their system of payment program. Other states are excellent with programs that they have for children with Special Needs. I just wish Ohio would do so as well.
