Thankfully DS has only been admitted once. He had what they thought was a gastrointestinal virus that was causing rapid dehydration. I lost count of how many bags of fluids they pumped into him each day before he finally improved. Since he was sick I passed my time there just taking care of him. Trying to get him to eat or drink anything I could, changing his diapers, giving him a sponge bath, whatever. I was pregnant at the time so whenever I wasn't doing that I just tried to sleep.
I'm a pretty avid reader, so I've read plenty of books in the hospital, Danny in one arm, book with the other. I've always taken my work laptop with me for Internet time, but a lot of the time during Danny's hospitalizations, I've held him a majority of the time and that gets awkward. Our hospital has TVs in the room too, so at least during the evening I can usually find something worth watching. It's been a while since our last hospital visit, thank God, though we've had the threat of another surgery looming for a while... Managed to dodge it so far but I have a feeling that may not last forever.
