Alright, so we applied for SSI for our daughter Sam (PDD, non verbal) in May, yesterday I called to check the status and the rep said ok a decision has been made you have to call SSI, so I call SSI and the rep says She was approved, you will get a letter in the mail. I was so relieved. So I call back to see if I can get a head start on financial records or what have you and the rep refuses to tell me anything, I was like, they already told me she was approved, so why the run around now? I called maybe 3 more times and each different rep told me tha they could not tell me over the phone and to wait for this blasted letter. So now I am wondering if the first rep was wrong and if he made a mistake in teling me she was approved. Today I called and was told that if I don't have my letter by the 19th they can tell me over the phone. Now I am wondering if I can go to the office in person and be told of the decision?

So anyway, aside from that , if he was right and she was approved, how long does it take to get your back pay and first check? And is there a scale of sorts for how much she would receive? I hate dealing iwth agencies that take sooo long to get back to you. Everything is 30 days everytime I turn around!

ugh!! I hate trying to deal with that. We don't get SSI though. Although we are (and STILL are) repeatedly told that Kaiden qualifies for SSI just bc he has DS and doesn't have his own income, they won't grant it bc DH makes just a hair too much. One person says one thing, another says another.

the max amount in texas is 674...since its a federal program im guessing its the same in all states. When you get your award letter it should tell you when and how much you will get every month along with how much your balloon payment will be. I work the the state doing food stamps and medicaid so i dont know much more then that.

Ditto. As enlisted Army my hubby apparently makes the big bucks and because of him, she doesn't qualify
