Right now I got a sick little girl sleeping on me. We were told today she has strep that is causing stomach pain, possible hand foot mouth disease, and I found out Jamie has a heart murmur. They never told me about the murmur before. The pedi says he can only hear it when she is sick. I was like wow, add that to the list of things wrong with Jamie.I am just shocked it was never mentioned to me for 3 years. Glad to know I'm left out of the loop.

First of all, big *HUGS* to Jamie. I'm sorry she's sick. That just sounds miserable. Praying she gets better soon.

Are they calling it an innocent murmor? Do they think it needs to be evaluated or are they going to leave it alone? I'm just wondering because I know a lot of kids have murmors that don't cause any problems and they're basically ignored. I really hope that's the case for Jamie. Still it stinks that you're just finding out about it.

He just said he only hears it when she is sick so he is not going to worry about it. My thought was considering her eye problems they ignored untill she was 2 why wasn't I informed of this? I know some murmers are innocent but with her track record I almost wonder if it needs checked out.

Then I think if I were in your shoes, knowing that other serious issues have been ignored in the past, I'd err on the side of caution and get it checked out. Just for your own peace of mind.
At least insist on a conversation with her pediatrician so he can explain to you exactly what the issue is and why it's not worth worrying about. And don't leave until you're satisfied with the answer.
Good luck.

As mom to a heart baby, I would demand a referral to a pediatric cardiologist, just in case. An EKG and Echocardiogram won't take long and you'll know for sure whether or not it truly is an innocent murmur. I hope it is an innocent murmur but you don't want to take a chance that it isn't {{hugs}}
