After nearly 7 months of me taking her to the doc.. at least twice a month, for her wheezing and rattling sound, I found out she has asthma.. Of course, it took her having an asthma attack for them to catch it.
It pisses me off that they could not tell me before..and to make matters wrose..they didnt even give her a breathing treatment while she was having the attack!
I am calling a specialist tommorrow to get a second opinon and just because I will feel better about the whole situation by taking her there.
They didnt do any type of tests or anything on her. Just listened to her breathe.
I'm just so irriaated at my peds right now. They didnt give me any info or anything..Jusdt told me that it was an asthma attack and prescribed somethign for her to take.
UGH>.anyway, I havebt been around in a while and so this is kinda an update now.

Oh (((((HUGS)))) Hun, that is awful! It does sound like asthma but for them to treat her like that and act if it is "nothing" and not really do nothing about it seems very wrong. I am sorry you have had to go through this as well as poor Kalli. I hope the second opinion does give you better information and/or advice on her problem(s) and actually "talk" to you.

(((((Stephanie)))))))) Good for you to get a 2nd opinion. I'd seriously think about reporting your Ped. also. Asthma could be deadly if not treated properly, and to just give you a dx, Rx, and send you on your way with no information is horribly irresponsible!!! I would get Kalli into an immunologist/allergist to see if her asthma is brought on by allergies.
Anika has BPD and was also just dx'd with asthma (though apparently before a certain age they call it Reactive Airway Disease, which she was dx'd wtih forever ago). Besides just having asthma with BPD she is also slightly allergic to dogs (no biggie, our's died last year), and VERY allergic to a specific type of mold that lives on all grass and dustmites!!! So, we are trying to make our home completely dust free and hypoallergenic- seems impossible. Anyway, all this to say I UNDERSTAND!!! PM, IM, or whatever me if you need

Stephanie,
I just found otu some more information and thought of you. Dr's don't generally DX asthma until the child is at the very least 2; but they dx Reactive Airway Disease before then. This was Anika's DX until a month ago; Reactive Airway Disease and Bronchopulminary displasia. Now it's Asthma and BPD.
Have you gotten a second opinion yet?
