Just wondering if anyone else has a nurse in your home. Aleah has been approved for 16 hours a day, but we currently have 8 hours staffed. Our new night nurse starts on Tuesday and we'll have her 3x per week. I'd rather not have the nursing, and think we could cope well without it, and it's weird having "strangers" in your home, particularly when you're sleeping, but I've adjusted. If I didn't have twins, I say I would even pass on the nursing all together. Our nurse left early today because she said we were boring DH was home, he had Ada, I had Aleah, and there was nothing for her to do.

We don't have nursing care, but we did get approved for respite, and she does not need the nurse since she doesn't have a g-tbue or trach. So, the person we will eventually get will be a nurses assistant. I think that is what they call them. If we ever get the ball rolling with it, it will be great. I forget how many hours we get, but they give you a yearly allottement which can be used how you like.

We get respite care for Cade. Right now I generally only use two partial days a week. I am thinking of upping it a little more - I need to talk to our caseworker and see exactly how much we can get.
