Of course, when our children are in pain and etc we do want to change places with them but what do you think is easier carrying for a Special need/disabled child or being a Special need/disabled yourself (taking care of a "normal" child)?

My opinion of this is equal. I feel that I have difficult issues to deal with when it comes to Bailey, but she also has difficult issues to deal with. Bailey has to work harder to do everything that other kids can do. She has hearing impairment and visual impairment and balance disorder. Those things combined make her struggle with everything, not to mention that she can't eat by mouth, but is trying to learn and wants to eat what other are eating. She works hard every second of every day to do everything.

I, on the other hand, have to work hard to advocate for her to receive all that she needs to succeed and we have so much to work on everyday. In the end, I think we have both worked hard for everything we have done and we are both very happy individuals. Just having all of my kids is such a joy for me and she is just happy being who she is. I would not change a thing about her, but I would trade places with her during those times of pain and surgeries or tests if I could or at least take the pain away. I think that she is who she is because of what she has been through, so if I traded places with her, she would not be the same.

Well said! I agree the parent and child both have challenges regardless who has the disability or special need and each "suffer" in some way and I hate to use the word suffer just because it is not really suffering-just facts of life. I feel the same of course, if I could I'd places with my able daughter if she would get hurt but otherwise, we are use to our life as it is.
