I am officially a planning to VBAC mama! I was having trouble deciding: family thinks I'm nuts & stupid, closest VBAC hospital/OB care over an hour away, self doubt I could do it, worry about my spinal conditions - when a miracle happened. A student midwife in my area posted on freecycle that she was GIVING AWAY her doula services to a certain number of moms!! I met her today and I am one of the lucky moms she will be taking on. She's close to her cert & does have doula experience, along with being pregnant with her 6th child so I feel confident she can help me through this. I'm still nervous & scared, but I'll have support & I'm going for it! WOOHOO!!!

I know! I am still kinda in shock, it is too good to be true almost. It makes the negatives of this PG a bit better, maybe this won't be so bad afterall??? Anway, it's a ray of sunshine I will (very gratefully) take!

That's awesome! How lucky to find a doula for free. I'm seriously considering one for my next pregnancy as well. Good luck!

Thank you ladies! I meet my new OB on the 16th, I am hoping he is as good as the local doulas have said. I am going off their recommendations...it is slim pickings here in Maine for VBAC friendly medical care & hospitals. A lot of women are opting for homebirth VBAC's but I am not that brave....

^ Unless policy drastically changes in the next 3-4 years, that's what we'll likely end up doing. There's a couple of really highly recommended MW's here in Bath who will attend a HBAC. The more I think about it, the more I prefer that idea to travelling to P-town.
Congrats again on finding a VBAC-friendly support team!
