I just wanted to update you all on my VBAC attempt. I went into labor at 36w4d. Labor was going well until my water broke at 6cm. Baby's HR started decelerating severely with every contraction. After a whirlwind of attempts to make him happy in there, it was clear that he needed to come out right away.
Emerson Noah was born via emergency c-section on 2/10. It turns out, his cord was wrapped around his neck, under his armpit, and back around his neck again. He was born very blue, but pinked up quickly. It was a scary experience, but we have a healthy baby and that's all I could ask for.
I'm glad I attempted the VBAC, just for myself. I felt like I needed to try it and I have no regrets. I honestly feel like nothing could have been done differently in this situation and I'm at peace with it, unlike my first c-section.
I think the fact that you attempted it, knew what you were going into, and understood the reason for the cesarean all made a huge difference. Emerson got to chose his birthday, and got all the benefits of labor. Congratulations and the work you did, and your beautiful son!
