Brief background. DD was a csection baby in april 08, due to being breech. DS was an induced VBAC with an EPI in Nov. of 09, he was 9lbs 4oz. I recently moved across the country and had to find a new doctor and a new practice, im 21 weeks pregnant.

I found a good doctor, who is VBAC friendly, and i will deliver at a hosptial thats about 30-40 minutes away depending on traffic. My doctor already said they do not induce, but they do strip membranes ( although im not sure i want it). The more i think about it, the more i think i want to try it natural.

However, i dont even know where to begin. What are some of the questions about procedures i should be asking my ob about what is to be expected come Delivery day. Things like monitoring, birthing tub, ect. I really dont know what my options should be, since i was induced and had to be in bed ( although it wasnt bad, DS was born withing 6 hours of the start of my induction). So anything you can let me know to help me out would be great!

Also, my other hospital took my kids away for 6 hours of "monitoring" i seem to find that most moms get their babies right away, and i want this for myself. My DD was Jaundice and DS they wanted to monitor blood sugar levels because of his size. But i dont know that either of them were worth 6 hours of testing. Who do i let know i want my baby right away?

These are the questions I plan on asking:
1. Do you support my decision to have a VBAC?
2. How far past my due date do you think is safe for me to go with a vbac?
3. Does the hospital offer telemetry monitoring?
4. Can I labor in water?
5. Do you have any problem with refusal of vaginal exams before labor?
6. Do you have any issues with delayed cord clamping?
7. If a cesarean is medically necessary will you be willing to do delayed cord clamping and allow me to have skin to skin contact with my baby while in the OR? (barring any complications).

I just asked this among other questions at a recent appointment. I was told they absolutely cannot do delayed clamping with a c/s bc every minute that the incision is open, mom is losing blood. And since they can't close the incision until the placenta has been removed, they won't do delayed clamping. Not sure if that was a line of BS, but that's what I was told.

Hmmm...
I'll ask and let you know what they tell me.
