Do you have to wait to get pregnant again if you want a vbac??

I think it depends on the Dr./mw. A lot of dr's will say either 18 or 24 months between births. My ob required at least 18 months between births, I switched to a mw who liked at least 12 months between births. My vbac was almost 15 months after my c section (I got pregnant when my first was 6 months).

Yep Melanie pretty much covered it. My daughter 2 years and two months when my son was born by successful vbac. My OB also wanted a minimum of 18 months between births. They say it takes like 12 months for the uterus to heal after a csection and they add another 6-12 months after that just to make sure the uterus had plenty of time to heal.

My first vbac was 2 1/2 years (to the date, lol) after my emergency csec. Some of the doctors in the clinic didn't even want to allow it, but my doctor was all for it, but had to pass my charts around to a few of her colleagues so that they knew what they were dealing with if she wasn't on call when I delivered. I also had to be interviewed by one of the main ob/csec doctors to see if I was a 'viable candidate'. Didn't have to do any of that with my second, but that was 4 years later in a different city.

I'm not sure, I think it may depend on the state. I know here it's really hard to find a midwife to attend any homebirth. I had to vbac in the hospital, had to be on monitors, so no water birth. Wasn't even able to use the birth center (not midwives choice, they've been figthing that for years). But when I looked up birth stories, I came across many stories of hbac with midwives. You may have to do some research but you may be to find a midwife to attend a hbac.

I have a friend who is a midwife that is all for them, but she's in WA, not NY. Not sure how you would go about finding them... I'll see if there's a midwife association or something where you can find them easily.

Awesome thanks! I have a hard time finding anything online I mean we won't be trying for awhile but I want to know what my options are and plan ahead Bc I wanted a home water birth and of course with twins I ended up with a c section so I'm really hoping for a home water birth next time!
