Okay, so I got my MIL's ball out of the closet and got it pumped up last night. So....now what? What am I supposed to do with it exactly?

Ive been wanting to get one to help with sciatica, my doula told me I could just sit on it and it would take the pressure off of my back so if you are having back pain just sit on it lol

Ok , sounds odd but sit on it , feet flat and shoulder width apart , then roll your butt around all different ways lol , it really helps loosen things up down there , and just use it as you chair of choice through out the day too and it will help with back pain and will help get baby down in position . Also if your having bad back pain like me you can get on your knees and lean on the ball and it help allot , it takes allot of pressure off your back .

Okay, good, that's what I've been doing. I'm using it for my computer chair as well. I'll have to go look at the link Val posted to see what else I can do. It's really helping my posture.

I used the birthing ball a LOT in the last few weeks before my VBAC. I feel like it helped a lot. Addison dropped at 37 weeks and I feel like sitting on the birthing ball probably allowed that to happen quicker. I would sit on it every day just whenever I sat down. Instead of sitting on the couch, I'd sit on the ball. Watching TV, on the computer, whatever...I was on the ball. It helps w/ pelvic alignment and prevents you from leaning back in a semi-recline which can cause the baby to get OP, which is something you def. do NOT want!!!
You just need to sit on it and sway your hips as much as you can. I really feel like it helped me a lot.

Waaaaah, I wish I had a birthing ball now ! I couldn't find one in the stores that is small enough (I really need a 45-55cm, but the smallest I could find was a 65cm)...but I guess its for the best because once ds sees it I'd never get it back!! He's already swiped my Boppy pillow.

I'm 4 foot 10 . My midwife said that the hospital has some 55cm balls, and that she could let some of the air out so it will hopefully be short enough for me. I just hated to spend money we don't have, only to find that it doesn't fit, y/k?

Lol I'm 5"1 5"2 and have a 55cm ball , it fit's me great , I got it for $10 ( or was it $15 ? ) at wal-mart so it really wasn't that much , though anymore then that I wouldn't have been able to buy it , it's technical a body ball but it's the same thing really . K-mart had then too for around the same price I think .

I would just get the bigger ball and not inflate it all the way.
