We went to my favorite local baby store to look for an outfit for my friend that is due with a girl in September. I found nothing that I though she would like (she doesn't even know what she likes), but we walked away with $37.56 of baby clothes. I couldn't help it!! They were having a sale for mother's day; buy one, get one half-off.
I got 3 pairs of denim baby overalls (I love those silly things), one with Pooh on them, 3 or 4 whole outfits complete with bibs, 3 rompers, a sleep 'n play, a pair of overalls with a matching shirt, and a little Fisher Price set with khaki overalls with sea turtles on them, a matching shirt, and matching hat. The denim overalls alone would have cost me the $37.00, or more, if I'd have went somewhere else.
When I came home, I sorted through all of my stash of baby clothes, and I realized how many I have! We purchased the vast majority of our collection since January, and it is quite huge.
I seperated them into their appropriate boxes: newborn-3months, 3-6months, 6-9months, and then a small box of 12months. Then we have our box of blankets, toys, etc.
For those of you that are already buying baby clothes: What do you have the most of?
Do you buy all different sizes?
What will you definitely need more of?
Do you try to get stuff on sale?
Where do you buy most of your baby stuff at?
Do you have certain patterns/characters/colors that you can't hardly pass up?
Do you remember what the first item you purchased was?
What's your favorite item that you have?
We have tons of onesies, especially in 0-3 months. We also have probably 10 or 12 pairs of overalls because we both think babies look adorable in them. We buy all different sizes, just whatever we find on sale, but we don't buy anything over 12 months. We will definitely need more pants in various sizes, and we only have one pack of socks. (I have such a hard time finding socks that aren't pink or blue.) I would say 45% of our stuff has come from that local discount/thrift baby store, 35% came from the awesome K-mart sales they were having a while back, 15% came from Wal-mart, and the rest from Penney's, Goody's, and various other stores. We can't hardly pass up anything Pooh, or anything with turtles, frogs, dinosaurs, dogs, or ducks on them.
The first clothing item we purchased (that I can remember) was a two-pack of onesies with Tigger on them. They got destroyed though, and we no longer have them. The first thing we ever bought though, was a set of bath toys that were crocodiles. We still have them.

I have nothing, and I doubt I will buy anything until at least after I get a BFP. I don't know I might even be scared of buying too much immediately after that too. If I had to guess my mom or my sister will likely buy the first thing. Maybe DH, he will be SO excited.
