Hey ladies, just wanted to ask a question. I bought a bottle of EPO a few months ago and have never used it. This cycle I think I will though...I am on CD 8...During what time in my cycle should I take it, and how many per day? TIA!

I took 1000mg each day from AF through O. You aren't supposed to take it after you ovulate. Good luck!

I am not sure about this so I looked it up on google and I came up with a forum where the ladies are actually talking about it delaying their ovulation. Here's a quote from what she says -

Quote:
I googled delayed ovulation and EPO and this is what I found:

Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) Usage: EPO is used in TTC to increase cervical mucus. It also lowers cholesterol, and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. The active ingredient is cis-linoleic and cis-gammalinolenic acid (GLA). It may take up to three months to see results.

Recommended Dosage: Follow the instructions on the bottle, or try 1,000 mg per day. Some recommend taking up to 3,000 mg per day, but this dosage has been known to cause uterine contractions, spotting and delayed ovulation in some women.

Side Effects: EPO can cause uterine contractions. Do not use EPO during the two-week wait after ovulation, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Do not use if prone to seizures or if taking anti-epileptic/anti-seizure medications. Some people may experience nausea or headaches as side-effects.
also, here's a link that someone in the thread provided that could be useful:

Here's the original link.

From the looks of it, it really all depends on the dosage and I guess it could actually be used as a natural birth control in large amounts. I wouldn't recommend taking more than the suggested dosage in that case. I hope it helps, Good luck!

I took 1500 mg from AF to O. I never had any problems with it delaying my ovulation either.

Yes, it can be bought in most vitamin stores and/or pharmacies. I've personally bought mine off of online drugstores.

And I've never had it affect when I ovulate, but I was only taking 1000 mg and it looks like according to that article bad side effects take place if you take 3 times more than that!

I have taken EPO in the past but i found it really messed with my skin, i was breaking out all the time and it made my skin really oily too so i stopped taking it, ive not heard of it delaying ovulation either but u just never know, what i was told is that it was good for ur cm, but to be honest i didnt notice much of a change, good luck!
