My husband was just told that the reason we cannot get pregnant may be due to him having varicocele veins. I was curious if any of you have had this happen or know someone who has. I would like to know anything you guys can tell me about it.
Hey, and welcome to JM! My name is Brandi, and my DH is David. He was diagnosed with a varicocele in May of 2008. Varicoceles are varicose veins in the scrotum. What happens is that the blood vessel doesn't drain blood like it should, and the vessel stays filled with blood, more than normal. This extra blood causes extra heat. This extra heat reduces sperm count. Varicoceles can easily be fixed through a simple surgery, done by the urologist. After the surgery, it takes an average of 92 days for new sperm to form. What that means is that it will take at least 3 months to see if the surgery has increased the sperm count, and by how much. I hope this helps! BTW, I am the co-host of TTC w/Male Factor Infertility, and you are more than welcome to come and join us!
First of all, welcome to the group! I hope that you are able to get answers really soon and come up with a solid plan to help you get your bfp. Good luck!
