How come every time I buy HPTs or OPKs the cashier has to make some comment?! It's happened at Walgreens, Walmart, the Dollar Store...UGH.

Just the other day I was at the Dollar Store and I picked up some OPKs and the cashier says "what are you hoping for?"...and I wasn't sure what she was talking about so I said "excuse me?" and she says...."well, are you trying?". What?!? None of your business! If I wasn't so shocked I would've come up with some snappy response. I worked at Target for several years throughout high school and college and I NEVER commented on any personal items that people bought.

I was just going to post the same topic! I had that happen to me today at the dollar store. The cashier was ringing me up, got to the tests, and held them up and said- "are you wanting one or two lines?" I just kinda looked at her and she said "well either way, these are super accurate, so I dont know why you are buying 2 of them. One would work just fine." I was too taken aback to even comment.

I order mine from a website just for those very reasons! I do not want to deal with people asking me questions. I buy them bundled and get a better deal. I am so sorry that you guys have to deal with this! Let me know if you want the website. I will be happy to send it to you!

I wonder if they do have any policies toward that. It's probably more of a blanket "don't overstep your bounds," which interprets totally differently between people. There's also the "be friendly to your customers" policy, which, to them, probably means striking up a conversation about whatever.

Here in the South, it's not uncommon at all to have a cashier comment on things you buy. "Oh I just love these." "Oh, these are sugar free, you got diabetes, honey?" "I ain't never heard of these, they look real weird." "You wantin' some babies? Oh girl I had three kids before I was even out of high school, you can just take mine, hahahahaha."

It's hard to be mad, when they mean well and seem sweet, but SERIOUSLY.

Been there, done that. I was in Dollar Tree once buying literally 15 tests...I was testing out my trigger and the lady looks at me...do you really need this many? Are you giving them away as a gag gift? I was like...nope...all for me. And then another time, I had the cashier tell me that she hoped I got the answer I wanted. That one wasn't so bad but ugh.

That's why I use self checkout [: I've never gotten any comments but I know it could happen.

I am a cashier at Walmart & I would NEVER say anything about someone buying OPK's or HPT's. I'm a talker too, but I know that that's totally not a topic to casually talk about with a stranger.

The last time I bought my OPK's the cashier scanned them, looked at me and said "OH CONGRATS !!!"

I looked at her & said "umm, those arent pregnancy tests, they are for ovulation"

I HATE that our walmart took away the self checkouts when they re-modeled the store--- dumbest thing ever but apparently the dumb customers made that happen for the smarter folks here who dont have time to wait in line for slow pokes
