Hi girls! Thanks for thinking of me! I have been away all day!! After the IUI I went to a restaurant with my parents, to celebrate the first IUI lol!

Everything went well! We may have found the reason why we weren't able to conceive... First, DH's spermies were in great shape. From 99 million spermies, they kept 47 million, 99% were well alive and 88% were super fast!!!

The nurse doing the IUI had a hard time finding my cervix... When she did find it, it wasn't facing the right way, the "entrance" should be downwards, facing the vajayjay, so the spermies can get into the uterus. Well mine was facing my stomach... So she had to twist it around so that she could get the catheter inside... That took a while... It wasn't painful, just a little uncomfortable. I thought she'd never be able to reposition it. But she did!

Everything went well after that! She told us to BD tonight as well because I'm fertile and it stimulates my hormones. So we did! Now all we have to do is wait!

So now, we think we found why we never were able to conceive... Because my cervix wasn't positioned right... The thing that bugs me is why didn't my doctor and OB see this?!?! Is it possible it was hard to see and the only way to find out was to "go play in there"? I'm a little confused...

Anyways, the nurse was extremely positive! She said when I come for baby #2, we can tell the OB what is going on with my cervix, and I quote: "because there's no doubt you're gonna get pregnant this cycle"! Squeeee!!! And then I told her I didn't get an appointment with my OB for a follow up, at the end of my cycle, and I asked if I should get one. But she said I shouldn't, that I'm gonna be pregnant this cycle So I didn't I believe her, I trust her. I mean, I'm not the first one she sees! I have faith! I really hope this is it and that my problem was only my cervix being in the wrong position! That would totally make sense because everything else was perfect and my OB didn't understand why I wasn't getting pregnant!

So this is it! I'm trying to stay positive and hope for the best! This 2WW will be long...

Thanks for reading this entire post, you were brave Thank you for your support!

I am soooo excited for you!!!!!! I had a hard time during my 2ww after my first IUI as well. I tried to do everything to keep me busy so I wouldn't think about it. Good luck with that!

I am wondering too why didn't they see that your cervix was positioned wrong during your HSG!??!!? When they shoot that dye up in there, I would think that they would have discovered that. Hmmmmm....what do I know, though, I am not a doctor!!!

Anywhoooo......YAY!!!!! Keep us posted!!!!

I know!!! Exactly what I'm thinking too! I do know that the nurse doing my HSG (it wasn't my OB) had a hard time "working" in there to get to the cervix but she didn't talk about my cervix being positioned wrong... She got in there didn't she?! I'm just really confused...

I think I'm gonna call and ask to talk to my OB...

marie! i've got everything crossed for you! just the though of "repositioning" your cervix sounds painful! glad it wasn't though. at the fertility clinic they discovered that i had cervical stenosis (the opening to my cervix was practically closed shut) and when they "pushed through" it was THE worst pain ever! despite having seen a zillion different OB/GYN over the years nobody EVER mentioned that to me. anyway, i am so excited for you and can't wait to see what happens in the next few weeks!

Amy!! Hey, so glad to hear from you girlfriend!!!

No, repositioning the cervix did not hurt at all. And the catheter going through the cervix did not hurt either. Just once she was in the uterus, it pinched a bit!

I'm a little relieved that they didn't even notice your cervical stenosis!!! So that means it's possible they never saw my cervix deviation! Imagine if they would have found that out much earlier, it would have saved us money and time *sigh* Oh well, I just want a BFP in the end, that's all that matters. Crossing my fingers that my cervix WAS the problem and we by-passed it

So I did a little research and it seems like cervix deviation is a cause for infertility (obviously, if it's not positioned properly, the spermies can't get through!). I found someone that posted on another forum, she had the same thing as me! She went in for her first IUI and the nurse doing the IUI found out she had a deviated cervix... She also said her OBGYN never saw that... So I'm not alone! I'm assuming it's really hard to see/diagnose? If there's a slight deviation, it's not so bad but my deviation seemed pretty bad... The nurse took about 10 minutes to twist and turn my cervix to position it properly so she could get the catheter to go through... She kept trying but it was really hard, she eventually got it. I just hope that this was our problem (my OB couldn't figure out why we couldn't conceive...) and by doing a IUI I'll get pregnant on the first try!
