So I didnt take the first round of fertility testing all that well. When DH test came back with no sperm count, I got really depressed. I didnt want to do anything else with fertility or talk to anyone who was trying or was pregnant. However, I've pushed myself back up and tomorrow I have my test to see where we stand on me. Hubby still may just have a blockage and I dont want him to go through any surgeries if I'm totally screwed up.
I'm nervous because its an HSG (I think that was the order of the letters) test and I've never had any kind of procedure done. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the worst. What's horrible is that if I talk to anyone about my worries, and yes, most of them have children, they are all 'well don't worrry about it' or 'at least you'll know'. I don't think they realize how devestating or worrisome it is to have the possibility of not being able to have your own children looming over your head. I'm so sick of their generic positivity. I'm sure that makes me sound awful, but we've been trying 8 years and we're the only ones who havent had a baby.
This wasn't meant to be a rant.
Has anyone had this test before? How bad does it hurt?

Thank you to both of you. I have the IBprophen ready, that's for sure and the remainder of the day off of work. If I'm okay, then its a matter of getting hubby okay. He's not convinced they didn't botch the test though. Its possible because he said the place didnt have the best organization, but I dont know. I'm just nervous

I had one too a few months ago. I'm a wuss and cried like a baby before the procedure... I had my mama with me, at least It was painful but it doesn't last long so it's tolerable. Good luck!

My HSG wasn't able to completed due to a stenotic cervix. But I do agree with the other ladies who have said take something for the discomfort before hand. It'll be a breeze and over before you know it! Best of luck and can't wait to hear how it went!

Mine was pretty painful, but mostly b/c I did not know to take any pain killers before hand. It would have been a lot quicker too, if the X-ray tech would have been in the room and ready to go as well! I hope that yours goes smoothly and everything is ok! Keep us posted!

I will let you guys know how it goes. I'm definitely nervous. I can handle the pain I think, but its the results I'm worried about. I dont know how we'll cope with another blow.

Test was today and everything went well. From what my doctor can tell my uterus is in a good position and nothing is blocked anywhere. I didnt feel a lot of pain during, but the cramping afterwards was like AF cramps but worse. I came home and slept most of the afternoon. LOL

Thank you. I feel pretty optimistic. I'm hoping that hubby is just blocked or something. If he's not, my insurance pays for four AI's so we have at least four shots at having one baby. Optimism is all I've got right now, so I'm holding on tight.

You might also have some good luck after your HSG! A lot of women get pregnant within 3 months after their HSG's because you are basically all cleaned out and what not. It didn't work for me, but I have hope for you!

Well the other factor is my husband who's test count came back with nada. Not sure if he is blocked or if the test was screwed up. He's got to go for a second opinion.

I'm sorry...I forgot you had said that! My DH didn't register at 0...his count is actually quite good but most of them don't swim and then the one's that do swim are funny shaped and can't penetrate an egg. I hope your husbands second opinion is better!
