So I haven't posted here in forever but we are now trying for #2. It took about 1 1/2 years to get #1 (who just turned one last week. Woo Hoo!) so I'm kind of preparing for it to take a while to get #2. I just printed out all my old charts from before DS and the few charts after him and got looking at them.

First, a little background: I'll be 32 next week (started TTC when I was 29), DH will be 35 next month (32 when started TTC). Always had fairly regular cycles. No Endo or PCOS.

Here's what I have from my charts:

Before DS:
17 months TTC (16 cycles - couple oddball long ones)
3 cycles not charted (just starting out, didn't know about charting)

Of the months I charted there were:
5 cycles where we totally missed the fertile window (mixture of being sick and/or stressed from work)
8 cycles with good timing

Of those 8:
3 were chemicals
1 resulted in me being pregnant with DS (relatively uneventful pregnancy until 34 weeks when my membranes ruptured and I had to be induced so he was 6 weeks premature).

After DS:
5 cycles total
2 cycles totally missed (still BFing and irregular)
3 were ok
1 chemical

So although I always considered it taking us 1 1/2 years go get DS, When I look back it actually took about a year worth of months with good timing. So that's not quite as bad as I though, but I did have 3 chemicals (2 were back-to-back) before DS which bothers me and then I had another one just a couple months ago.

I know doctors say if you're under 35 you should wait a year before looking into possible infertility and after 35, you should only wait 6 months.

DH and I really aren't wanting to drag or feet with #2 so we were thinking about trying for another 3 months (giving us 6 months total with good timing) then looking into a specialist. I won't be 35 yet, but giving that I've had 4 chemicals so far and it took us longer than average to get DS, do you think we'd have a chance of getting looked at?

Or am I just over-analysing this and we likely don't have any fertility issues, but are just on the extreme end of the normal time to conceive?

I don't think it would hurt trying to get into a dr. I'm sure if you explain your situation, they'll be able to tell you if they want to see you right away or have you try a few more months. That is an awful lot of chemical pregnancies! Just out of curiosity, did you get + hpts and not + blood work?

When I had the chemicals, I didn't bother going to the doctor since I wasn't officially late. I'd get a couple faint positives then a day or two later get negatives and start spotting/AF. They were so faint that I wanted to wait for them to get darker before making an appointment to confirm but that never happened.

When I did get pregnant and was going through my history with my midwife at my first prenatal appointment, I mentioned that I'd had 3 previous chemicals, but she said that they don't count those as miscarriages.

That makes sense, thanks! I think I had a chemical once (had a few positives, but AF came) but I'm not sure if it was b/c of faulty tests (I used blue dye). I never mentioned it when we went to the RE, but maybe I should have.
