Has anyone had one? What can you tell me about it. I have a doctors appointment next week, and I really think they are going to want to schedule one. If they don't mention it, I think I will. Just wondering about your experiences with this.

I haven't had one, but I read about them in TTCWMA just in case they want to do one down the road. From what I've read they only take a few minutes to do and they can be quite painful. A lot of the women said they took Motrin about two hours before the HSG and it really, really helped. It took it from major pain (described by non-Motrin users) to more like bad AF cramps (described by Motrin users). They took 2 I believe, but I suppose that would depend on how sensitive you are to it. I'm sure if you asked there that you would get a lot of responses.

I just had one of those on Wednesday. I think I was pretty lucky because it wasn't all that bad for me. I took Advil about 2 hours before I went in. It was uncomfortable but not really painful. I didn't have the cramping they warned me about but I was a bit achy for the rest of the evening.
It took about 10 minutes.
I think it all depends on the person though because I was fine but the lady who went in before me was in a lot of pain.

I had one and agree, the motrin will help with teh pain. It was pretty uncomfortable. Also, my RE prescribed an antibiotic to prevent infection. The pain was WAY worth it for two reasons: first, it was really cool to see the dye go through everything. it confirmed their suspicions that my uterus was shifted way to the left....seeign the dye go straight up on my left side was a bit freaky.

second, if there was any obstruction, it's gone now while I had the procedure in April, I got pg on my May cycle.

I had one three years ago. I had forgotten to take my motrin, and I wish I had-I was pretty crampy when they injected the dye. It didn't last long, and it wasn't too bad without motrin, but I had no blockages.
