Yes. When I was younger two tornados went down the street and tore down trees and power lines. Thankfully no houses were hit and nobody was hurt, but if the tornados had shifted just a tiny bit they would've leveled the whole neighborhood.
Early last year was the worst we've been through. We were sitting in the house. It was a normal, sunny, clear day in spring. All of a sudden the sky went dark and the wind started to come up. We ran around and shut things up as quickly as possible and I grabbed the kids and held them in the tub with a comforter over us since we had no basement. It only lasted one or two minutes at best, though it felt like more. It tore part of the roof off of the house, ripped limbs out of the trees, split one tree completely in half, etc. That was just our property. One of the neighboring farms lost a hay barn. Everybody in the area was dealing with damage. We thought it was some sort of freak tornado, but it turned out to be a wind shear. I'd never seen anything like it and hope I never see anything like it again. To this day my daughter is terrified of any signs of wind stronger than a breeze.
