What is the longest period of time you have ever been away from your child?

The longest I've ever been away from my daughter was the night I had my son and I spent the whole night crying. The longest I've ever been away from them otherwise has been about 8 hours while DH and I had a date day. We just dropped them off before lunch and picked them up after dinner so it wasn't an overnight thing.

My kids left to go to their Dad's on June 17th. I got the call yesterday and they should be home on the 7th. 51 days. I hate summer!

Why are they gone so long over the summer? Is it because of the distance involved?

Yes, the distance was a big factor. The judge ruled me as the custodial parent, and he got visitation. 9 weeks per year. One year he gets Thanksgiving (1 week) and Easter (1 week) and then 7 weeks in the summer. The next year he gets Christmas (2 weeks) and 7 weeks in the summer. Usually he doesn't take the other visits......just summer, so I give him 8 weeks then. This year he got just over 7 weeks. I couldn't let him have more because of Sierra's seizures earlier in the summer, and the need to get her to some specialist appointments before school starts again.

For Joe -- 2 days and it was PURE TORTURE!!! I was having Jayden and our old hospital did NOT allow siblings at all no exceptions (jerks!). They couldn't even step foot inside the maternity ward and babies couldn't leave it so he didn't get to see his little brother till we came home =(. With Jayden... 3 hours. When my mom, Joe and I went fishing the other day he stayed at home with daddy.
