I just got off the phone and found out that our insurance won't cover anything for fertility. No blood work, no SA, nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. I'll have to wait until March, cycle 17, to talk to my OB again and even then all she'll be able to do is a PAP and try to offer comforting words. I'm so sad I don't even begin to know what to do right now.

I know how much that sucks, but I'll let you in on a little secret. There are ways for your doctor to code the tests (a lot of them anyway) so that it is being done for a medical reason instead of for fertility reasons. My insurance doesn't cover fertility testing or treatment either, but the guy with the insurance company shared that little tidbit with me.

My OB told me that, but the insurance company won't let them schedule a follow-up. Maybe if I can talk to somebody different in scheduling, but the girl I talked to today couldn't do it. Unless I can find somebody that can code it properly I'm stuck waiting. I might be able to get them to schedule my 2009 PAP for January instead of March, but I'm not sure. Having to cancel my appointment was just not something I feel up to handling right now. This whole thing feels completely hopeless.

They can code it differently, mine in nc did not cover anything either, but they coded it as something else, who knows what, and all I had to pay out of pocket was my meds, so don't give up hope there are always ways around things, trust me, if this office won't, then maybe try another office.

It's the only office that won't force me to see a male doctor if I get pregnant and I'm just not comfortable with having a male that's not my husband poking around down there. If I were in labor sure, I'd take a male, but unless it's an emergency I don't want one. I'm going to talk to my husband about it and see what he wants to do. Either we'll wait until next year and just keep trying with all of our hope spent or we'll figure out a way around it with a pain in the butt scheduler.

I know how frustrating this is. My insurance doesn't cover anything fertility related either. Even worse, it doesn't cover anything pregnancy related either!! We had to pay everything when I had my 7 y.o. !! DH is trying to switch me (alone) to a different one, but it is very difficult 'cause I have pre-existing conditions!!

I hope you won't need the doc's help after all and you'll get pregnant on your own.

I didn't have coverage when I had my daughter so I can relate to that. I hope you can get switched to something that will work for you.

At this point I'm thinking we're going to need help, but since we'll probably have to do a chunk of it out of pocket it will have to wait at least 3 years. Possibly longer. Our bodies are free birth control.

Sorry about the insurance not covering fertility. Hopefully the doctor office can find a way to help you.
