How old is your child, and what is their bedtime?

(I was talking with SIL about age appropriate bedtimes, and started wondering what the majority of people thought was appropriate at different ages.)

My son is 2 1/2 and his usual bedtime is about 10:30, and on the weekends, it is 11:30 or 12, we don't really make him stick to a schedule cause we really don't stick to one ourselves.

Tayla is 20months old and she goes to bed at 7pm every night. We used to keep her up until 8:30 but it didn't make her sleep any later in the am so we made her bedtime earlier and it actually makes her sleep an extra half hour in the am...crazy right? I guess she wasn't getting enough sleep before. It works so much better for us because now we get to have alone time and still go to bed early!

My kids are older. 7 and 10. They go to bed at 10 during the week and just whenever on Fri and Sat. DS usually still crashes around 10 or 10:30. DD stays up pretty late on the weekends though. I know that's pretty late for DS compared to some of his friends, but it works for us, and bedtimes are something I think you have to evaluate for each individual child. With DD there is no way she could have stayed up this late at the age of 7. Even now there are times that I make her go to bed earlier just because she needs the extra rest.

Nolan is 23 months and he needs 11 hours of sleep at night, so he's usually down at 9 to wake up for 8.

For our kids dd(11) and ds(6) lights out at 10:00pm but they don't end up falling asleep till around 11. ds won't let dd sleep he keeps her up talking and laughing. We have tried everything to get ds to get to sleep early and we fall asleep before him. I think he makes up for it on the weekends cuz he is asleep by 10 and up by 8, if only he would do that on schoolnights.
