Hello,

I'm not a member of this board, but I do have a question for you as I am WTTC and will be 35 when we start to try. The background to my question is that I have a friend who conceived their first child on their first 'try' and their second child took 18 months of heartache to conceive, but no fertility drugs (they were just starting to have tests). I have another friend who took 18 months to conceive their first (no fertility drugs) and now with the second have been ttc for 18+ months and are now on fertility drugs for unexplained secondary infertility.

So my question.. Did you conceive your first child/children easily (or relatively so), and now are having more difficulty for unexplained reasons? Or did you have problems the first time/s too?

Thanks ladies and I hope it's okay to come on here and ask. Good Luck to you all with getting your BFPs!

We conceived our children fairly easily and now we are having a difficult time. We have been actively trying for the last 10 months and getting ready to go to the doctor. I beleive in my case I have LPD.

My first actually came while I was PREVENTING! My second was came after 2 years of not preventing, but not trying. I've been trying this time for 2 1/2 years, and 5 early losses. Just had surgery yesterday to remove some adhesions from my tubes that hopefully will fix our problem. if not we start fertility meds next cycle.

Firstly I am so sorry for your losses. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to go through that time after time. I hope the surgery works for you - life is weird sometimes - to conceive when preventing and then to have trouble when you're trying...

Marggie - hope the doctor has some answers for you.

My friend is struggling with not conceiving the 2nd time. I've told her about JM because I think it would really help her but I don't think she's had a look on here yet. She does talk to me about it but I feel like she'd also benefit from talking to people going through the same thing as her. She was supposed to start IUI last week but scans showed she had four large follicles forming. In Australia they will only inseminate if there are one to two large follicles as they are very strict with not wanting 3+ embryos to implant. So, she is feeling like she can't win at the moment and was of course, very upset. She goes back to half a Clomid tablet next cycle and hopefully the IUI.

Once again, I hope you get your BFPs soon and thanks for taking the time to answer my personal question.

It took 2 and a half years for us to get pregnant with DD but I only ovulate every 6 months or so...so that's really only 5 cycles of trying. We didn't use fertility drugs then. We are now though! Good luck to your friend!

It took us about 3 years our first try, we used fertility meds then, but I actually got pregnant about a year after I quit taking fertility meds, it was kind of a surprise, as we pretty much thought it couldn't happen for us.

I love that story..(not that you had trouble getting pregnant of course), but just that it did happen when you really thought it wouldn't - that sort of thing gives me goosebumps - must have been an amazing feeling. now it's just got to happen again!

With our 1st it only took 1 month of trying - we have now benn trying for almost 3 years, and just started getting tested. Everything tested fine with me, so now it's on to getting DH tested which will most likely be next week.

Good Luck!

It took us 9 months of trying with DD#1, but actually conceived the first time I O'd after going off of BCP. With DD#2 it took at year of trying which included charting, OPKs and checking CM and we finally conceived with our first round of Clomid. We are very very very early in to not trying but not preventing for our thrid. I'm breastfeeding our 12 week old so I'm assuming it'll take awhile this time as well, if it happens at all.
