At what age do you think its approriate to give your child soft drinks?

I don't know what age is appropriate, but I already give mine soft drinks, starting giving him little sips when he was about 10 months old.

I personally don't want her having soda but my mom and my sil give it to her and she see's us drinking it so she asks for it all the time now. She only gets diet sprite, gingerale (her fav) or sil gives her orange soda. She only gets these things once in a while. If my nephew is drinking Orange soda she wants it but he mostly drinks juice...she wants what ever he has...the funny thing is she only really likes the gingerale. The rest she just cries for and takes 2 sips...she doesn't even like juice.

AJ gets a sip off and on, but he won't have a full soda till he is much older - probably at least 10.

He steals a few sips of mine when we go to the movies, so very rarely. I suspect he'll drink it more regularly when he's btwn 7-8

My kids started when they were about 2 or 3, dd only drinks sprite and ds hardly drinks it he likes the juices or tea better. Actually we started this week none of us are going to drink soda, dh had really high sugar when he went for his appointment. Dr said if he doesn't want to get diabetes he needs to eat better and stay off the soda. The only to do that is for all of us to give it up.

I can't remember what age I started letting them drink it. They were way too young though. We've cut way back now though, and they only occasionally get soda. I let them split a 20 ounce the other night for dinner and it had been so long since they'd had any they acted like they had just won the lottery! lol
