I went on E-bay and was able to win 8 First Response tests for $9.99 including shipping. The problem: They are First Response Rapid Results, not the FRER . I noticed that at the time but there were few minutes left in the bidding so I couldn't look them up. I thought there wouldn't be much difference, just a little less sensitive.

Well, I received them today, and the package says that I can test on the day I miss my period. I couldn't find any info on the sensitivity but the reviews I read online are not very encouraging.

The silver lining: I can't test until I miss AF. I just have to wait (oh yeah, sure!!).

Does anyone have any experience with those?

I would assume that because it is made by First Response, they are likely just as accurate. I probably wouldn't try to test early though. That might be to your benefit though. I've given up on testing early. It just brings heartache. Of course, that could be AF talking. Since I am still waiting to O and she literally just landed this morning. lol As of right now I vow not to test before AF is due. That decision is subject to change once I enter the 2WW though!

Good luck, and I hope these tests work for you!

They are far less sensitive to my understanding. They're made to be used any time of day which means there would have to be a lot in your diluted urine and a LOT more in the concentrated. A woman on the AIP board tried them awhile back and both gave her a question mark on the display screen. You'd probably need to be a few days late at least before they would work, I think.

These have 2 lines like the FRER and no display screen, and the instructions say to use first morning urine like the other brands. I think they're far less sensitive than the early results ones. I think it's better for me not to test early. I'll just try my best to wait until AF is actually late. (These tests may last for a looong time, LOL).

I'm not sure I'll be able to prevent myself from buying an early result one though, LOL. I'm going to need some encouragement. Why don't we form a group and call it (Woman against early testing)?

why would FResponse sell those. don't they tout themselves on being the most ensitive test - that you can test 5 days prior to a missed period on? is it cause they are cheaper? for those who possibly aren't "trying" and test when they realize they've missed their period??? lynda scratches her head!!!!!

I was looking at my test stash and discovered the freebies I got at the Healthy Baby and Child Expo last March are the Rapid Results - and expired by now. LOL I decided I will use them and if a BFP comes up it will give me more of a reason to get another test (not like I needed a reason - LOL).

I guess they're like the older versions of HPTs before the early result ones were put on the market. I can't find them on store shelves. Only on Ebay and such.

Not only are they cheaper, but if you avoid testing before AF is late, you end up saving quite a bit of money on tests.

*sigh*...I'm not sure I can be so patient.

I've seen them in stores, but only in digital form and for the same high cost as other digis. They probably are for women who suddenly realize that AF is really late and want a super fast answer. Early tests usually detect levels of 25 or less, normal around 50 or less, and tests that you take later detect levels of about 100 or less. According to the POAS site anyways. It doesn't have any numbers for the FRRR yet, but I'd imagine it'd be closer to 100 since you would normally use it if you're pretty late.

I like the idea of the group! If I end up on Clomid it'll be really hard not to POAS the entire 2WW!
