Well ladies, I went and seen my neurologist today, he told me that my knee is not serious, yet, however I do have cartilage that is deteriorating between it, and allot of swelling, he does not feel that surgery is necessary for it at this time. He also went over the results of my nerve conduction study, and told me that my left leg pain, and numbness is from a pinched nerve in my spine, for now he wants me to do 6 weeks of hydra therapy, simply because it is mandatory to have it in order to get the next step in the process covered, however he wants me to go 3 times a week, which is 40 dollars, which I can't afford, . I don't know what to do, he don't think my medical will cover the epi cortisone shots, or back surgery without proving that I have tried therapy. He also wants me to halt ttc once again, because he feels that I really need to get my pain level under control, right now I basically live on 5 different pain medications daily, that and he feels that I may need surgery sooner than he had originally thought.. He also mentioned a tens unit, or possibly nerve ablation, where he would actually go in and burn my nerves to reduce the pain. sorry to dump all of this, I'm just a mess right now.

I'm sorry. The tens unit may be a big help to you though. It worked wonders with my Dad's back.

I'm so sorry. What a lousy appointment! The knee thing isn't as major as it sounds. They diagnosed me with deteriorating cartilage in my right knee when I was 11 years old. They told me that I would need knee replacement surgery and here I am, 13 years later, and still with my original knee. I learned to manage the pain and to catch myself when it gives out. Knowing your limits can really help a lot and so can a sports brace from Walmart. If you get one just make sure it has the metal support in the sides. Those can really help if it gives out and the added support provides a lot of pain relief. My left knee is going now as well, but I'm still managing without surgery. It's painful, but it's not the worst thing that could happen. As far as the back goes... Is there any place that would do the hydra therapy at a discount? It may be worthwhile to call around for a bit and see if they would all charge the same price. Also, did you call your insurance company to ask if they would cover it? Some will cover physical therapy just because it can prevent the need for more expensive surgery. It'd be worth a shot.

My insurance company does cover it, it's just that my copay is 40 dollars for each visit. I am going to try and call and see if I can find a place that does it at a discounted price, maybe somewhere that has a sliding scale policy, as we currently are kinda low income.

(((hugs)))) I'm sorry you're going through all of this. I also have hip, knee, and back problems that sometimes make me rethink TTC. Hang in there, hopefully things will get better and you'll be cleared to TTC again.

Thanks ladies, I am feeling a bit better about it today, I know that somehow things will work out, dh is trying to switch jobs, the job he is interviewing for has 100% insurance, so they should cover better, so I will be keeping my fingers crossed that he gets the job.
