Do you set a limit on how much you are going to spend on your children before you start shopping?
Do you stick to that, or do you go over?

We usually set a limit, and break it, especially if we see something great.

No matter what the occasion is we set a rough amount and try to stick to that. Going over a few dollars is okay, but we don't go more than 10 over.

We set a basic limit. More importantly (in our eyes) than going over that limit is to spend an equal amount on both kids.

Try and set a limit but go way over. I make sure each kids gets 1 big gift that is similar in price and then at least another big gift that they can both share and get use out of. Then the rest is smaller stuff.

We usually just get what we can afford for him. We went overboard this year cause he hasn't had much the last couple of year (and even though he doesn't remember them - we do, we had a couple rough years with DH's job and paychecks). We had a 30% off and got stuff for all of us at the same time - spent about $300 (for all of us - mostly DH and AJ) I think. We are done with him except for his stocking which will be less than $20 hopefully.
