My dog had pups last night. Sadly only one made it. I'm just going to link you to the post on the TTC board.
The New Year brought me a baby!
There are pictures of momma and the new pup there.

They're so beautiful. I'm sorry that you lost the other three, but it's still a great surprise.

I just feel so bad because when she goes outside to potty she keeps trying to get back to the garage and look for the others. I showed them to her to let her say goodbye (Let me tell you....there were a lot of tears this morning....me and the momma both. I kept crying and telling her how sorry I was. I told her that I knew....that I had lost babies too. Maybe some are right and animals really don't have any clue what we are saying and forget about their babies right away, but she seems so sad, and she has really seemed to bond with me since that moment in the garage.
I haven't messed with the puppy too much (even though I really want to!) but here are some better pictures.
Here it's head is between my index finger and my middle finger. (sooo tiny!)
And this one it's moving around in the box by momma's feet.

I think they really know. I've seen so many litters over the years and so many lost for various reasons and the mother always seems heartbroken. That little guy looks like he's going to be really playful when he grows up.

I hope so! We are going to get him housebroken just as soon as we can so he (or she) can be an inside dog too. And since Lady is going to be inside for the next several weeks I am going to try (YET AGAIN!) to housebreak her too. If she learns this time, then she will get to stay inside too. This house sure is getting crowded! lol This makes the third dog and we have two cats too! (They all get along fabulously.....though no one but momma is allowed around baby right now. I'm not taking any chance with our little miracle pup!)
Matt said maybe this is a sign. I mean....we just decided that we were giving up on TTC and then today starts a new year and we start out that new year with a new life in our home. We are both still determined to lose weight and save money, but we are also really hoping for a surprise BFP along the way!

I agree with Anna that dogs know - she's just heartbroken. Dogs are a lot more intelligent than people give them credit for, although they do tend to do some dumb things at times - they're like children!
I have a dog, Belle, who is outside in a fence all day while we are away but comes in when we get home. One day last week when I got home she was out of the fence (she does that at times) so I go to let her in - now on any other day she'll go in fine but this day she didn't. She took off. Our normal routine is that I let her in the house, let Rex out of his kennel, then let Rex, Molly, & Gina outside to go potty but Belle stays in b/c she has been outside all day & if we let her out she'll take off & we won't see her for a couple of hours. The day she wouldn't go in & took off, she ran around the house to the front door. I saw her & tried to call her in but she was bound & determined not to go in the house. She ran around the front yard & when she saw me coming after her she took off into the woods. I could tell though by the way she kept running in the yard & back up to the door that she was waiting for Molly & Rex to come out with her. She knows our routine. Well, I put Molly & Rex on leashes & carried them out to potty. When Belle finally decided to come in the house I let Molly & Rex outside to run around.
I also strongly believe that dogs also have human emotions - Belle is so jealous. Heaven forbid you pay attention to another dog - she'll promptly come over, crawl in your lap, & nudge you until you pay attention to her & not the other dog. Having dogs really is a lot like having children. I love them!

Well, I definitely know now that she is heartbroken and does remember. The kids have been taking her out in the little grassy area on the embankment in front of our house. I decided to just let her lead the way and follow wherever she wanted to go a bit ago, and she went straight back to the garage. she instantly looked under the chair and then in the chair, and then all around that area whining the whole time. I feel so bad for her. I mean......I know I had no idea she was expecting and realistically couldn't have done anything differently, but I still kind of am kicking myself for her giving birth outside in the dead of winter.
I'm also very thankful that we found Nuevo(a) when we did. And I can't wait until I can tell for sure if it's a he or she! lol

After some research and close inspection, I am fairly certain that Nuevo is actually a Nueva! Matt is going to be so disappointed. He really wanted a boy! lol That brings us to a total of 4 humans (2 boys, 2 girls) and 5 furbabies (all girls). The guys say we need some more testosterone in the house. lol
