Well my appointment went awful, he was so mean, I asked him first why he thought I miscarried and he looked at me and said, you and I both know why, do I need to say it out loud (because i'm fat) and then I asked him about my issues with not ovulating, and he said " I do not feel comfortable helping you get pregnant, because you are so obese, I would be helping create a high risk pregnancy, and that just would not look good for me, you need to get your weight under control before I will even talk about giving you a referral to a RE much less help you myself" at this point I started crying and stood up and said this appointment is over, he still was trying to talk to my dh and said "you understand don't you", to which dh said "yep I understand that you just want to make easy money and don't want to give real answers, I guess it's easier to blame it on anything so long as you don't have to think", then we left and I have been crying all day.

ooooooo that's a BAD DR! I'd find some one else to go to! My mom was (and still is) obese and she had 4 kids! I understand it's a little harder, so forgive me if I say something wrong. I'd seriously report him!

Oh Vicki, I am so sorry What a horrible doctor! I hope you have found another one by now-no doctor should ever treat a patient that way! There are more compassionate ways to explain to a patient how obesity impairs infertility (my dr told me the same thing last year, but gently), what a jerk! What a horrible appt for you

I am trying to find another doctor, but because it's a small little area, that doctor is the only one for our ob/gyn practice that does anything for infertility and I have already seen the only other re in the area, and she told me i needed to consider gastric bypass and would not even talk about helping me, I am going to try to find a doctor tomorrow, but will probably have to go to another part of the state which is like a two hour drive, goodness everyone told me he was such a nice doctor.

Ditto - WHAT A JERK!!! I mean yes, you may be over-weight but we all know PCOS isn't helping the matter & then he treated you that way (I agree with Marie - he could have been a little more gentle about it)! Keep your head up girl! Find a new dr who is willing to help you. Trust me I know how hard it is to find a GOOD dr. I went through 3 over the course of the past year to find a decent thyroid dr.

OMG I am so angry at your "doctor". That was completely uncalled for. I think you should report him. I am sooo sorry hun. I wish I could give you a big hug. I am sooo glad Harlan went with you and spoke up to the dr. What a great hubby you have. I hope you find a doctor that is incouraging and positive and helpful.

He could have much more respectfull and explained how obesity can impact fertily and m/c's THEN offered you and dh some wise and usefull support to help you achive your gaol...ughhh makes me so mad!!

My RE did exactly that and she didnt say to lose weight but she said loseing weight WILL only help and she was respectful and geniune about it.

I'm so sorry you had to go throught that. Some dr can be so mean, they dont think about what they are saying. I hope you feel better and don't let what that JERK said get you down. Good Luck finding a new dr.

Well I called the doctor's office and I am putting in a complaint, I am waiting for the manager to call me back right now, woo hoo, i hope he gets in trouble, will let you gals know how it goes.

Well girls I got my call back, the manager seemed so nice, he told me first that he should have taken the miscarriages more seriously, and 2nd off he is going to pull my chart and review my visit with other doctors, and should be back in touch with me tomorrow and at the latest monday, he seemed shocked by what dr wolf had said, I feel so good right now, he is also going get my hospital records and try and figure out what is actually causing the miscarriages.

BTW, I was always under the impression from a Baby Story or something I watched on tv when there was a woman that had gastric bypass and got pregnant that you aren't supposed to get pregnant after wards. Apparently it can completely reverse it or something.
