I went for a checkup/annual exam today. The doctor told me that I need to ttc asap. I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured this past October. He did the surgery to remove it and repair the tube. After the surgery he said I only had a 15% chance of another ectopic. He said I had no scarring and everything looked fine internally, other than the scar I would have from the surgery. Today he told me that if that tube was blocked chances are the other one will be. He said if I have another ectopic than I won't be able to have another baby. He said I only have one tube to conceive with???. I have no idea what he was talking about. He told me originally he fixed my left tube, so I don't know if he meant I didn't have a right one at all or what. I told him we would try when I thought I would ovulate on the right side, and he told me there is no way to tell and the tube would go to whichever ovary it needed to. I cramp really bad on my left side every other month at ovulation time. I just assumed that was because I had scarring on the left that would cause it there but not on the right. I think I am going to get a second opinion. I don't like that he gives me no other option but to try to see if I get another ectopic. I know there are tests available to see if the tubes are blocked. Wouldn't he tell me straight out if I only had one tube to begin with? I know this is a rant, but I need some opinions. Do any of you ladies have a history of ectopic or blocked tubes? Should I get a second opinion?[/b]

To answer the bolded question.....ABSOLUTELY. If this doctor told you the other bolded statement, then he honestly has no clue what he is talking about. Your tubes CANNOT move from one ovary to the other. Yes, you can ovulate from either ovary, and it doesn't necessarily flip flop like most think. (I've ovulated from the left 5 months in a row that I know of, this is the first month in a long time that I ovulated from the right side.) There isn't any way to know except for with ultrasound monitoring which side you are going to ovulate from. It sounds to me like this doctor has told you two completely different things, so I would definitely get a second opinion, and with an RE (reproductive endocrinologist) if possible.
Good luck and welcome to the group!
