I am waiting on a call back from my OB Dr's office to make an appointment for testing. I wanted to get the CD 23 pogesterine test done but I have not even talked to the Dr about it yet. Should I see if they will schedule my appointment near that day? CD 23 is actually on a Sat so does it have to be right on that day? I dont even think I can get an appointment on that day. Not sure my OB Dr will even know about this since I have not talked to him yet.

So should I just make the appointment and talk to him or try to get the appointment near CD 23? I am now on CD 5 so its perfecting timing to get that in this month. He is pretty busy though so it may be a couple mths before I can even get in. Not sure.

Thanks

I was just looking on my insurance and it says that the infertility testing is only covered at 50%. Ugggghhhh. I may have to go to my thyroid dr and and just her to test my hormones. Would anything show up like this or does it have to be on CD 23?

Thanks

I would talk to the scheduler/nurse and tell them what you are hoping to have done and see what they say. When I called for my testing they had me come in and see the doctor but be prepared for the tests just in case he could do it. I hope you are able to get some answers soon.

They usually test progesterone on CD 21. I was sent to a lab to have my progesterone tested. If you chart you should really have it done at 7dpo. The reason that is important is if you O later in your cycle cause they are going off ovulation on CD 14.

Your progesterone test NEEDS to be tied to your cycle on day 23 or day 21 depending on how YOUR dr does it. Mine tests on day 23 (& if day 23 happens to fall on a Sat, I go in on Fri or if it falls on Sun, I go in on Mon). I agree with Christina - it is tied to your cycle AFTER Oing. I've never had a problem Oing & have always gotten a + OPK without Clomid on CD 12. I also agree with Steph - talk to the nurse, explain your situation - they may work with you & tell you to come in anyway. When is your next pap - maybe you can talk to your dr during that appt & you guys can go from there. My insurance doesn't cover fertility but my OB marked my stuff as PCOS even though I don't have it - his actual words were that I have some symptoms of PCOS but he thinks my problems are more thyroid related. He did it b/c if he would have marked infertility my insurance wouldn't cover it.

You could ask your thyroid dr if he can do all this but that's not really his specialty - this is really more of an OB's or RE's specialty. Who is your thyroid dr? An endo? A family doc? Mine's a sleep disorders doc so I know my thyroid dr wouldn't be one to ask about a progesterone test. Maybe an endo or family dr would KNOW to tie your progesterone test to your cycle, IDK.

GL & if you ever need anything at all, feel free to PM me.

In that case, if you can wait that long, that's probably what I'd do (that's what I did when I started all this anyway). I waited till my regularly scheduled pap & talked to the dr about wanting to get pg. Because I hadn't gotten pg yet we did bloodwork (that's HOW I found my hypo) & an HSG (the HSG first My OB was clueless). We stopped trying for a while to get my hypo under control & switched drs SEVERAL times. I also just switched OBs b/c my first OB didn't do the progesterone test.
