Hi all.
DH and I are TTC and for some reason we're having a hard time now. I've been pregnant a total of 5 times (I lost 2) and two of those were with DH. (This is my 2nd marriage.) So I know we are both fertile, and fertile together.
But for the past 2 cycles, nothing. I have ALWAYS gotten pregnant on the first try. I've gotten an endless stream of people telling me how normal it is to need a few tries before conceiving but I know my body and I know what's normal for me. You don't get pregnant 5 times on the first try then suddenly don't get pregnant and call it normal.
I just don't know when to ask my doc to help, and what to even ask for. I can't wait 6-12 months, I need to get this last pregnancy done before my arthritis gets worse, and I never even wanted to get pregnant over 30 and now that I am 30 I'd like to get a move on with it so I won't be on Social Security before my youngest child is grown.
What do I do? When I saw I was spotting today I lost all hope for this month. Should I ask for Clomid?

I'd talk to your OB immediately & explain everything to him & see what/how he wants to handle it. (You may also have to fudge a bit & tell your OB that you have been TTC a year - typically they don't want to get involved unless you have been trying a while.) I wouldn't necessarily ask for clomid if you don't need it - something else may be going on, IDK. I'd also make sure you get routine fertility bloodwork done (including the thyroid test).

I actually started trying about 3 years ago. My OB never did any bloodwork on me but skipped straight to the HSG (he said that typically the bloodwork comes back normal). I then found out about the bloodwork & specifically requested it & found out I'm hypo. I had to get that fixed before even thinking about clomid - which I did & then learned that I had a progesterone deficiency as well, which the clomid was used to help. The first cycle of clomid, my progesterone was great but the 2nd cycle my progesterone was extremely low.

I would go talk to your doctor about your concerns. Like Amanda mentioned....most doctors don't want to get involved until you have been trying for a year, but you know your body. If you are concerned I totally recommend talking about it.

I too have had trouble TTC after getting pregnant right away twice (I lost the second). I agree and would fudge with the doc how long you've actually been trying and ask him to do some bloodwork. Maybe push it to 6 months of TTC and that you think there's something going on-YOU KNOW YOUR BODY! I too have been considering clomid after 5 months of irregular cycles and my doc did say I'm not a fertility issue yet, he understands that for me this is not typical and we could start if I wanted. Try it out-your obgyn may be very understanding

Hey ladies, thanks for the support.
The nurse called back from the GYN office, they are going to do an analysis on DH's troopers and on day, uh, I forgot, 21 or 23 next cycle they are going to draw blood on me to check progesterone and see if I ovulated. It's a start. They said no Clomid yet until he sees what my body is doing on its own. Fair enough.
I think I'm going to call my regular physician tomorrow or next week and ask if they can think of any other tests that might be pertinent. I have issues with low blood sugar. I've had that prob for a good while and it never hindered my other pregnancies, but people also are giving me that whole "as our bodies age...." speech. Jeez. Can't wait to see what 40 feels like!
I also went and got biotin and a super B complex today to take in addition to my prenatal vitamins and yam root extract. Mother nature can't say I'm not doing MY part. lol
I already told my doc I'd been TTC 2 months. Ooops. But I'm so glad they care and aren't blowing me off about this. I probably sound like a nut being worried after only 2 months. lol
Thanks for the suggestions, and not telling me to relax and quit thinking about it!

Don't you just hate that! I met someone new over the weekend & she said, "Stop 'trying'," if you KWIM! Yeah, like that's going to do it!
