Hi ladies. My name is Nicole. I'm new to JustMommies and hoping that I can join you. The truth is that I found this board by accident. I didn't even know there was something called secondary fertility. I am glad that I found this board because I have been so confused and upset about my personal situation. I have a three year old son named Aiden. When I got pregnant with him, it happened so easily without trying. My DH and I waited until April of last year to start trying to get pregnant. Now, its been one year with no result. Everyone keeps blowing off the situation and telling us to stop trying, but it is so hard. We haven't been tested to find out if there are problems. The truth is I have been too scared to go and talk to the doctor. But, I have finally gotten the courage to go to the doctor. That is how I found this board. I was looking things up. This situation is just really hard because I don't know anyone who is going through the same thing as me. I made an appointment with my doctor. And, I was wondering if anyone had any advice. Thank you all for taking the time to read this.

I think we can ALL relate to what you are going through! I've been trying now for a little over 3 years but it isn't as bad as all that... I tried for a little over a year until I finally went to the dr to see what in the world was going on. We did some bloodwork & found out I was hypothyroid. It took about a year to find the right dr to fix that so we could start trying again so we started again in Dec '08. I have since found a progesterone defect & am on clomid.

The only advice I really have is make sure you get fertility bloodwork done, including your thyroid. Charting helps you know how to read your body & how to time things better. A good book on the subject is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler... I HIGHLY recommend it!

BTW, welcome to the board! Hope your stay is short & you get that you so desire soon!

I tried to reply to this earlier, but my computer screwed up and who knows where it went. lol

Welcome to the group Nicole. I am Stephanie, the host here. My husband and I have been TTC our first together but my third for 3 years now. Don't let my story scare you though. I am one of those rare cases that left my doctor scratching his head because he has no idea what to do with me. All my tests are coming back normal, so they have no idea what is causing my problem.

I definitely recommend the book that Amanda suggested and charting if you arent already doing so. Charting has taught me so much about my body that I recommend it to everyone. I am looking forward to getting to know you better. I hope that you are able to figure things out and get your BFP right away. GOOD LUCK!

Hi Nicole I'm Lauren. I also have a little girl, Morgan, who's just about to be 3. My husband and I waited till last July to start trying. I got pregnant with Morgan and #2 right away. I miscarried last August and have had a hell of a time trying to get a BFP!

I absolutely think you are in the right place and welcome you (I'm pretty new myself!). I have found so much solace in reading about everyone's stories, but also getting great advice and help-some advice I hadn't even heard from my doctor!

Good luck to you. I'm glad you've posted and look forward to hearing more!

Thank you for all the advice. It is all very helpful. I actually ordered the book suggested on Amazon today so I am looking forward to its arrival. I have to say that I feel like I am starting to take control of this infertility issue for the first time. I hope that I get to know everyone else on this board.
