Charting. OPKs give a rough idea, but charting provided more information in the long run.

I usually didn't do much of either, I rarely ovulate at all, like maybe twice a year and I am too forgetful to chart, I always forgot to take my temps at the right time, and opk's are usually not accurate for me because I have pcos

I preferred charting 'cause my cycles are irregular so opk's weren't so helpful.

I like both but the one that I felt gave me more info was charting BUT the one that is less of a pain is OPKs.

I agree with Amanda. I've charted more and it IS useful for knowing my cycle, esp as my ovulation and cycle length moves around from month to month. But OPK's are quite fun and now I am getting more knowledgable about my cycle from temping I am inclined to want to just use OPK's now. I am tired of reading TOO much in my temp rises and drops and getting my hopes up so I just want to know my ovulation day then forget about it, iykwim!

Hi. Im Jolene. 31 years old. I suffered three years of a short luteal phase and didnt think I could get pregnant again without medical assistance but fell pregnant by accident and naturally. I am really happy and excited to be having a baby although knowing Im going it alone this time is a bit daunting and scary!

I know what you mean, I think it's pretty easy to read too much into temperature shifts

I had a triastic chart before (second temp shift) and that was a real downer when it turned into nothing! And then every dip is a 'could be implantation?'.....I used to check cm too but that also varies for me. One cycle I had creamy cm (tmi) from ov to AF and was like 'this has GOT to be something!' but nope....
I think my body likes confusing me!

OPK. I tried charting and taking my temp at 5 a.m. was no problem but trying to read it and understand it was something else.

Ovusoft (TCOYF) software is sooooooooooo easy to understand & it takes all the "work" out of charting. If you ever wanna give it a try, I would highly recommend it. You can also use Fertility Friend to help interpret the results but IMO it's harder to interpret but the good thing about it is it's free. Ovusoft cost me $30 I believe but it was a one time fee. It really does ALL the work for you... you put in your info & it tells you when/if you Oed & you don't even have to temp at the exact same time every day... you can go 1.5 hours over or under your set time to temp & the SW automatically adjusts the temp for you! Here's my chart if you wanna check it out & see what you think... acollins24's WebCharts (I haven't been temping since my m/c so you'll have to navigate back a few cycles to see my temps )

Actually it IS rather exciting but also sad to see those two pink lines that you so desperatly want to see on the pregs test instead of OPK ones

Thanks! I've checked it out and will consider it if things don't work out this cycle. I've tried Fertility Friend. It was nice but I just didn't know how to read it.

I have never used OPK's but charting seems more reliable.
