So I got my appointment for CD 1- 5 bloods tomorrow. It'll be CD4 for me. Don't feel nervous or anything just a bit sad that its come to this and also feels crazy that I 'feel' I know whats wrong with me (luteal phase defect/low progesterone) yet have to have the whole tests anyways. Does make sense I guess ...

Anyhoo, on another thought, I was thinking about my cycle and I recall when my AF came back Aprril 2007 it was 30 days. Then I MC'd Dec 2007 and didn't get a period for 8 wks (despite being an early loss). From then on I began charting and have had odd cycles, getting shorter and this luteal phase defect. So I was thinking IS it possible that the MC messed up my cycle and has continued to do so even though 18mths+ have passed?

Well, just thinking out loud I guess. I can find references online to a luteal defect causing miscarriage but not the reverse.....

Should I mention it at the docs?

It could never hurt to ask your dr but you might could also ask the ladies on the TTC after loss board (Trying to Conceive after Loss - JustMommies Message Boards)... I bet they'd know the answer to that! Actually I understand not wanting to do the other tests but look at it this way... at least they'll do them all & that way they can detect any OTHER problems too!

GL & KUP!

I asked on a ttc after miscarriage board but despite over 20 people 'looking' I didn't get a single reply. I also posted on Yahoo answers but got one 'don't think so' and that was all. Guess in the long term it doesn't matter the cause. I have it and hope to fix it.

Hubby has unsurprisingly backed out of having his tests done. He wants to see what the docs do to 'fix' my cycle and continue ttc before getting himself looked at. I tried to explain that NORMAL healthy couples can still take upto 12mths or more to concieve so wouldn't it be better if we knew we were both OK whilst trying? But you know men and doctors! Pah!
We'll have to wait and see. Maybe I will catch quickly once my cycle is normal, esp as I know my ovulation pattern now.

So how are things with you? I was browsing and found this site: Voice of the Angels
The 'advice' from the cards/angels has been spot on - advising me to stop looking inwards so much and have trust. Even to do something artistic - and I am an arty person - to take my mind of of it so I have started to do a painting portrait of my daughter. I haven't been able to do one of my pictures for ages (first because of paint fumes and pregnancy, then looking after her as a baby) so its nice to have another focus.

Good luck!!

Don't have a good answer for you, but I can empathize .... after my loss it took 15 weeks for AF, and then my cycles were crazy, like 21 days one month, then 62 days another!!
Tests are all 'normal' other than the endometriosis. Who knows!!

DH was the same way!!! A GF & I were just amaxed b/c her DH was the same way... we kept saying how "their" part is actually enjoyable, IYKWIM but we ladies have to be poked & prodded & stuck & literally in physical pain sometimes yet our guys can't do that one little thing. Guys are just like that, I think & actually my dr agreed & he's a man! I think it hurts their ego if they find out that they're the problem.

You're an artist!!! Guess what... so am I, well sort of! I found out I had a natural talent when we were out at a painting party one night & I've been painting ever since... well, i haven't painted in a while but I LOVE to paint! I'll have to find some pics & post them!

Awww thanks for the pics Amanda. Your art pics are fab! You should so do children books (from looking at the top two). And your family pics are loverly too.

I'm awaiting some new brushes before I can get on with my painting. Most of my online pics are based on my comic love though (below) but I have done portrait pics for people, of pets or kids, too.

ANYhoo...back to the bloods. The lady (nurse) was really nice. She said she had a thyroid problem and had her son when she was 40. I feel hopeful that at 30 I still have time (although at other times I feel like 30 is getting on as well!) but I did that FSH test Sunday and it was negative (ie good result in terms of my eggs!) lol.

Thats interesting Stefler about your cycle. Maybe MC really can mess us up for longer than expected or usual?

Thank you! And your pics are beautiful too!!! I wanna learn how to sketch like that! I actually found a homeschooling curriculum that I thought about buying myself to help me learn that!

I know what you mean about the age thing. I wanted to have one (hopefully 2) by 35 but I'm 32 now! There's no way I'm having 2 by 35... maybe 1 but def not 2. Not to mention DH is 10 years older than me so he's going to be about 65-ish by the time our next baby is even 20!

GL & KUP!

I think we said before but yep, same here. I had Dakota when I was 27 and planned to have another one asap but not be 'in a rush' for a third but believed it would be before 35. Now I am 30 and likely 31 - 32 when I have another (if I'm lucky enough to have another at all) and as I plan to breastfeed the 2nd for 3yrs+ it is likely we either won't have a third or it is going to be much later than planned. AND my hubby is also older than me. He will be 42 in Dec. That means IF we have a third he is well likely to be pushing 60 when the third is just 10yrs old. But I just can't worry about that. He has always acted younger than his age (same as I) and actually, knowing I am likely to be a widow in the future makes me want lots of grown-up kids around me even more to help and support me!

On a positive note though - I have seen lots of 'older' women pregs this year. Its funny but because of my job (just part time supermarket cashier) I people-watch alot and instead of feeling envious (well, just a tad) when I see bumps now I instead wonder about their story - like maybe instead of thinking 'woe me, they can get pregs with no problem' I instead think 'for all I know they could have been trying for years, had IVF or anything too!'
