My name is Amber. I have beautiful 6 year old daughter and have been ttc baby number 2 for the past 3 years. only july 2008 did I finally take it to the next level. I went to see my gyn. he put me on clomid 50mg for 3 rounds and 100 for 2 and then i stopped saying let it rest in the lords hands. Unfortunately, although I have been VERY regular on my cycle, I have yet to get pregnant. I think this cycle was my draw line. I want to go back to the doctor! I am going to call him tomorrow. DF and I were sure this was our cycle but af showed full blast today and I am so sad. I want to be preggo for christmas, so I am calling my doc tomorrow and seeing what our options are. I kinda want to say skip the extras and lets do IVF, I just dont know if that is possible. There are no causes, I had my tubes checked, my uterus is fine, my cervix is fine, df has superguys its just not happening. So we have no reason why we cant, we just arent. Well that is our story, hope to hear from you ladies soon! Good luck with everyone!

**Update**
Okay so I know I was kinda of whiny, im glad you all understand! I called my gyn and spoke with him over the phone. He said he wanted to see my in for an app. I told the receptionist she wanted to book me for the 21st!! I was like I need an app today I need to be squeezed in lol! She made it happen! Thank goodness I am just basically down the hall (I work in a hospital) So I went there on my lunch and the doc put me on clomid 50mg we are going to do that one month, when/if I ovulate he wants me to call and he is going to do b/w. If no ovulation then he is going to take me up to 100 mg next month (repeat of 50mg) and if no ovulation then he is going to push me up to 150mg the next cycle. Pray for me ladies, between my wants, my daughters' requests and my DF I just want to get preggo already! I want it to be by christmas cuz I have the whole thing planned out lol!!!! The doc was confused when I walked in the office 5mins after I got off the phone with him lol he was like, "you work fast lil lady!" I said well getting preggo fast isnt working so I have to compensate lol! He is the coolest gyn ever I swear. I start my 50mg tomorrow!!! Cant wait! Okay so thanks for being so supportive, I am def going to start charting. hopefully we can get to the bottom of all this lol. thanks again!

Hey Amber. I'm sorry your feeling so low. I can understand. I have been trying to concieve since April 2007 without success (well, one early miscarriage) so I can relate with that horrible feeling everytime AF shows.

Even though your cycle is regular have you tried charting to pinpoint when you ovulate? Women can vary so much that maybe you are ovulating much earlier or later in your cycle than you think? Knowing might help you time b'ding for the best chance.

Other than that, as you don't have a known cause of infertilty, you could try some herbal remedies like Agnus Castus and Red Raspberry Leaf as well as B6. You can get some 'fertility blends' where all the main ones are mixed together into an easy-to-take pill.

I agree on charting. You may have a short luteal phase, regular annovulatory cycles, early ovulation, etc. It could provide a wealth of information.

Hello and welcome! I also agree with charting. I've been TTC for 3 1/2 years now myself, and totally understand what a long and emotional journey you have been on. Like you, we have no reason why we aren't getting pregnant. Everything is fine with me, and DH has super sperm according to my RE. I didn't start charting until we'd been trying for well over a year and learned that I have late ovulation and a short LP. Clomid did straighten that out for us so our next step is to try Clomid with IUI. Charting was definitely a HUGE help for me and I recommend it to everyone. Check out the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility for tons of helpful information on charting.

Hey Stef...sorry for being dense but what is IUI? I've seen it around but don't know for what it referes too?

Also, I know its my first cycle using Progesterone for my luteal phase defect but it seems to be working (made it to 10dpo ) and I have seen on BBT charts women using it alongside Clomid...just wondering if you have used progesterone for your LP?

IUI is Intrauterine insemination. It's where they collect the man's sperm and 'wash' it (remove any dead or malformed sperm) then they used a catheter and insert the sperm high up inside of your uterus near the tube you are ovulating from in order to give the sperm a higher chance of making it to the egg. This method also bypasses your cervical fluid so that if you have hostile fluid, it doesn't affect the sperm.

As far as progesterone......my RE said that he didn't like to prescribe it because he felt like it just took care of the symptoms of the problem and not the problem itself. That and the clomid alone gets me up to a 12 - 14 day lp, so he didn't really think I needed it anyway.

Good luck with the clomid. I hope it works. I am really glad that your doctor was able to get you in so quickly. Sounds like an awesome doctor!

Thanks Stef! Sounds like something I might need to know in the future as I think my cervical fluid is hostile (very scant and never EWCM)

Oh thats great news Amber. I hope it works for you and you get answers soon! Let us know how you get on charting!

Have you had your thyroid tested? That was my problem, like you, by all outward appearances I should be getting pg but can't. So we found out I have hypothyroidism but I had to push my dr to test me. He wasn't going to do it until I specifically asked him to saying that oh, usually those tests come back fine that's why I don't usually test that. Guess what... they didn't (come back fine, now did they?)!!! Anyway, once we got that fixed we also learned I have a progesterone defect which I take Clomid for. Clomid works for me but there are several ladies it doesn't work.

I 100% believe that if you follow the Lord, He promises us children & He blesses us GREATLY.
"Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways....Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table." - Psalm 128:1, 3
Often through my infertiltiy struggles I have heavily leaned on the scripture Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". But also according to the Lord premarital sex is a sin:
"But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband" - 1 Corinthians 7:2.
"The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body" - 1 Corinthians 6:13b
BTW, I'm Amanda! to the board!

Jo, if you have hostile CM, you def should check out Pre-seed!!! Pre-Seed Sperm-Friendly Lubricant

I have looked at pre-seed but its reeeeaaallly expensive! I know that sounds lame but with my short luteal phase I wouldn't have had a chance anyways at concieving plus I spend on all the other things I've tried! However, as my Progesterone supposities seem to be working (YAY) and if i still don't fall pregs soon it will be next on my list!

I did have my thryoid tested at the very beginning and everything was fine. I get it checked regularly because my mom has hypothyroid so that was a concern for me. I took my first clomid 50mg pill today so Im excited to take my second tomorrow lol. I just hope that pregnancy comes soon. DF was singing today (really weird, he never did that before) "youre having my baby" and some really off tune that just had me laugh and cry at the same time. I hope this works just as much as anyone does. I talked to my best friend Amanda today and she made me feel a lot better. She knows how hard it is and she ended up coming across a woman who was giving her baby up for adoption and now she has a sweet lil Leyna. (4years old now lol). It sounds easier than it was for her but whatever the case, Im so glad to have her. So any luck with anyone else so far? Any good news?

You've been trying 3.5 years... I'm right there with you!

We tried naturally for about a year when I pushed for my thyroid to be tested. That's how I found out about my hypo then it took about a year to find the right dr to fix that so we actively started trying again in Dec last year. I learned I had a progesterone defect & was on several cycles of Clomid. 2 cycles of 50 mg which didn't work very well & 1 cycle of 100 mg which worked! But sadly he/she went to heaven so this is my first cycle TTC again with my 100 mg Clomid. I really really think this is my cycle since I did so well with 100 mg last time. We shall see though! BTW, I know you just started your clomid... I just started mine last night!

If you have a family history of Hypo & are still having infertility struggles I'd consider checking more into your thyroid. It may not be that at all but I do know how hard it is to find a good dr for your thyroid that actually knows what they are doing. Most dr's test TSH only & you really really should get your Free T3 & Free T4 tested as well (they tell you more about what your thyroid is ACTUALLY doing than the TSH does). And also a lot of dr's still use the outdated range of 0.5-5.0 for a normal TSH... it's not. The new range is 0.3-3.0 & then there are those ladies who may be normal or slightly above normal at 3.0 or even 5.0 (for the old range) & having hypo symptoms but the dr says your TSH is fine so you don't have hypo but when in fact you may have a slight case of hypo... called sub-clinical hypo. That's why it is so important to get the lab reports & see the results for yourself. Sorry I went on a bit of a tirade there but I've been dealing with this for a few years now & it is just so frustrating! Anyway, it's an avenue you may consider exploring a little more. If you need any more thyroid info we have a board here... Thyroid Disorders - JustMommies Message Boards

o WOW! I hope this is your month!!! I will def keep you in my prayers!!! Did they say why you m/c your baby last time? Thank you for the "in depth" info about the thyroid thing. I will def have all that checked. I didnt realize it was all so complicated lol.
We are really going in the same direction lol. You and I both have been ttc for 3.5 years, both re-started clomid so close. I cant wait, will we both be testing at the same time??? I hope so, it is way easier to have a friend lol!

Amber, they said it was most likely chromosomal but I wonder if my progesterone didn't go haywire & that may have been the cause. Regardless both my OB & my thyroid dr said it was NOT my thyroid that did it (untreated hypo can cause m/c's too).

I'm on CD 3 now so I'm thinking the absolute earliest I will test is 10 DPO which should be about Oct 21st but I'm really not sure if I should test then considering I only have 1 FRER left & I really don't want to waste it or I don't want to have to buy more. IDK, I may buy more, maybe a digi & if I do I'll def test at 10 dpo.

Jo, Boo!

So sorry to hear that jo...it will be alright though. Anything great is definately worth waiting for! Although I understand how you can feel so low, that is what started this little chat, I dont want you to be so sad. Just think that whenever it does happen, you will be so ready, excited, and thrilled and you will cherish your little one (s) more than most women do out there!
Amanda-that is funny your name is amanda because that is my best friends name and everyone calls me amanda for some reason. lol. So I will test when you test. I am afraid of tests so taking them are going to be challenging for me lol. However I have to take opk's so maybe when I get a positive on that, I wont be so nervous lolol!
